How to Have a Fabulous Day

I don't think I would be overstepping if I said, on behalf of most people, that Mondays are not their favorite day of the week. .. but that doesn't mean we can turn that around! We have the ability to make today a good day. It is up to you to put a smile on your face and keep trekking. {Preach it!}
I love the illustration above by Jessica Marie Design and when I saw it on Pinterest I thought that it encompassed everything I loved! Starbucks? Obvi. Peonies? My favorite! Essie nail polish? No other brand can beat it! Macarons? My go-to goodie at bakeries!
I'm thoroughly convinced that this will be a fabulous day!

I hope you had a lovely weekend, I'll talk to you soon....

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday!

We had a lovely weekend spent with family and did some "must needed" shopping at the new H&M that opened in Nashville. We also had a mexican dinner date with friends finished by milkshakes! Also I must mention we watched close to 6 hours of Suits Season 2. We're kind of obsessed to say the least!

I love the photo above and recently re-posted it on my tumblr. I surely wouldn't doubt if I have already posted it on the blog before, either. Lately all I want to wear are stripes, navy blue and red. Preferably in the same outfit :) If its classic, then yes. If Audrey Hepburn would wear it, then definitely yes!

I hope you had a great weekend and I will be back with some fun finds and outfits from our H&M shopping trip!

Monday Musthaves: Bubblebaths

Monday Musthaves: Bubblebaths

Monday Musthaves: Bubblebaths by lovelybdavis

Bubblebaths!
When it comes to cleaning up, I more than likely will choose a quick hop in the shower but when I want to unwind, I turn on the  water and slip into the bathtub. The weather today was cold and icy with most everyone scurrying to their homes as quickly as possible to avoid the blustering wind. Its days like this that I appreciate a nice long *err give me 20 minutes tops* soak.
My Bubble bath Must haves are as follows:
Bubble bath of course! I alternate between bath salts and my warm vanilla sugar from Bath and Bodyworks. It smells so yummy and leaves my skin ever so soft.
Reading Material: Being that I am frightened to drop my phone in the water I make it a point to separate myself from technology by grabbing my latest magazine or book. Tonight I flipped through the latest Real Simple and People Style Watch.
Silky Skin:  At the end of the bath it is time for nice smooth legs! The gilette olay razors are a new favorite as the moisturizers are already built in! No more messing with foam spewing out and the can not so gracefully slapping you in the foot... I sure hope I wasn't the only one who had shaving cream mishaps.

So there you have it, my bubblebath musthaves.
I hope the start of your week has gone well, I'll talk to you soon!

Case of the Monday's

All of the pictures above evoke what would be a perfect Monday for me:
Waking up to fresh espresso brewing, flawless makeup, frizz free locks and a knock-out outfit would start any gal’s week off right! Insert reality into this post and this morning looked more like breakfast at a tragedy  than breakfast at Tiffany’s. *That alarm clock saw the snooze button more than I'd like to admit*
Time to shape up, slap that face into gear and get that hair tamed…pronto.
I’m pretty sure we have all had a case of the Mondays and it ran rampant through my office today. At least I'm not alone in dragging my feet this afternoon.
There are lots of neglected household duties to take care of so I should get to them before I fall on the bed.
I'll talk to you soon!

Cruel Cruel Summer

Good Evening!
We’ve begun a new week in the midst of a steamy summer and I already want fall.
It surprises me when I watch the news people talking about sky-high temperatures. Has heat in the summer really surprised you? Did you live in a land of dry coolness, because living in the south is always very humid and hot from mid May through September. When I say hot, I mean it easily reaches 100 if not a few degrees higher.
If ever I were to spend a summer away, it would be in San Francisco where it is always 60 outside. I’m just not a summer person…I don’t do well with being a sweaty mess.
 On another note…our weekend was so nice, I had Friday off which was such a treat! Poor Adam had to study the entire time, though he did get our tires changed on Saturday. (Thanks, Love!) He is definitely clocking in 10+ hours a day in the books. Taking the bar, or at least studying for it, has become such a large hill to climb. I hear from his friends from law school of how they are doing and how they’re freaking out. My heart goes out to all of you! I am in awe of your ability to retain such an enormous amount of information and be under great stress. For hubby and his classmates from Memphis, the first testing day is next Wednesday. {Say a prayer, please!}
As I said, Friday became a day for me to rest. I hung out with friends that night for dinner but all of the plans made previously, completely changed. Regardless, we had fun eating at Mafiaoza's, a pizza joint in the 12th South district of Nashville.
Saturday I spent with two beautiful ladies, Miss Holli in particular, getting a green juice from whole foods and browsing around the mall.  Love girl time.
Sunday my parents invited us over for lunch and I was able to see my brother, Josh!! I miss him so much and don’t get to see him as often as I’d like. We all (minus Adam, he was studying) watched “Life As We Know It” and I charmed everyone’s pants off  by bringing it over. Such a cute movie…
Also because my grandfather will be moving in with my parents for a bit I was given the assignment to go through my crap from my old room. I found about 634,752,194 journals from 1994-2002 filled with “Oh my gosh I just don’t know if he could ever like me” and “Like, can you believe she told Cassidy to get her own?”. I was pure drama at 12. I started to read them when I got home as I was organizing and had to just put them away…life at 12 was lived in a bubble…a dramatic bubble. I’d rather not relive those years again.
So here we are at Monday, pretty uneventful though I was able to fully straighten up my house {folded laundry was piling up everywhere} and grab groceries.
I filmed a new video and I hope to post soon, but until then I’m going to get my sleep on.

Have a wonderful night, I will talk to you soon…

Good morning, good morning, good morning, it’s time to rise and shine…
Get out of bed you sleepy head…

I can recall almost every morning, my mom would greet us with that song when we woke up. It’s funny how things like that will stick with you, especially when they bring back happy memories. Even now I’ll sing it to Adam if I’m in a good mood. :)

A couple of weeks ago I took off today as a way to spend some time with my hubby while he was on spring break. Ideas of camping had been tossed around or getting out of town but no such things happened. Though the thoughts were great I am glad we did not because the temperature is still a little chilly. Nonetheless, I still have a Monday morning to rest and engage in morning type things. Those type things are as follows:

            1. Catch up on sleep
            2. Have a chance to eat breakfast
            3. Time to go for a jog and exercise

I truly believe that a three-day weekend should be enacted rather than keeping with those two not-so-long-enough ones we actually get.
Can I get an amen? I mean wouldn’t we take care of so much more?

So here’s to an eventful and productive week; have a lovely day!

Monday, September 20, 2010

It's already the 20th of September and I can't remember where this month went.
The heat has yet to relent. Waking up every morning hope rises in my heart that the air will be crisp at a cool 60 degrees but no avail.

As always things around here are pretty tame. Last Wednesday Adam and his law school buddies played flag football with some of the undergrads at U of M and totally beat them, 32-0! That's right! I felt it a little unfair because you've got men in the mid to late 20's, and even 30's against spry little 18/19 year olds. The undergrads were upset but I was so excited! Apparently it happens every Wednesday, go Adam! I took a few pictures of them but because they never stopped moving all the pictures looked blurry. I'll try to get some better ones in a couple of days.
My work week was crazy (in a bad way) filled with lots of patients and a lack of techs. When Friday came we were nothing but lazy and laid around the house after work. Later on that night we went to Walmart for a few items and came home to watch It's Complicated.
Saturday we woke up, again in hopes that the weather had lightened up, and went to Cooper Young Festival. The streets were packed with people, crafts and vendors. We never expected for it to be so hot, infact by the end of our time spent walking around we had sun burns.
A local movie store favorite, Black Lodge Video on the hill

May I note that we only spent 30 minutes outside! While browsing the many booths I spotted one that had linen napkins, cloths and stationary. I fell in love with this cloth which I've since hung on the oven.

We grabbed a bite to eat at one of our Memphis favorites, Young Avenue Deli.
Tuckered out from the sun we went home to watch football and nap! I do love a good Saturday nap.
Later that night both of us had the most major sweet tooth and it couldn't be controlled! I was craving a cupcake so we ventured to a cupcake shop I had been hearing about for quite some time now, Muddy's.
We honestly didn't expect them to be open at 8:30 but to our surprise there was a line out the door. We knew this place had to be good. We had the best intentions but failed on the diet front and purchased 3 cupcakes, 1 slice of cake and a chocolate chip cookie! We're shameful I know.
Here's a cute card I bought at Muddy's which I will be finding a frame for very soon. Cute!
Cupcakes: Vanilla, Chocolate with Mint Icing & Cinnamon with Cream Cheese
After church yesterday we spent most of the time in our home washing clothes and napping of course.
We've started a new week and I hope that it treats you well. Happy Monday lovelies!

Monday, February 8, 2010

Hello hello and a happy Monday to you!
After a fun weekend in Nashville with our families we are now back in Memphis just in time for a little snowstorm that hit us this morning.
Saturday morning my mom and I were able to get our nails done together which we had never done before. In fact this was my mom's first time to have hers professionally done and they look so good! My feet were in desperate need and that poor guy who took care of me deserved every bit of that tip. All of my toes are a sweet light pink shade in honor of valentine's day. {Aren't you just so excited for Sunday?} We spent our time between both families watching movies, going shopping, church and lunch at Red Lobster. Such a nice gesture for Adam's parents to take all of us out! We left Franklin early as we wanted to make it home before the Super Bowl started so that we'd still have somewhat of a weekend at home before the work/school week started.
{Side note: Adam's from Louisiana leaving us to cheer for the Saints of course! Who dat!}

Much to our surprise we woke up this morning to a text from Adam's friend Zach stating that the snowbird called for snow and school was cancelled for him. I scoffed at the text "knowing" my work wouldn't close for anything as we have many patients to attend to yet after texts between a few girls from work were exchanged and a call to the boss we were told to enjoy the snow and not come in. Thank goodness, we would have had to leave at 7 normally but instead I laid my head back down on the pillow.
Excited to have the day off I lazed around on the couch watching the morning tv shows and quickly jumped off the ole tush to clean clean clean. Adam had to pick up his friend from the airport who attended the super bowl and didn't know if he could take him all the way to his apartment and might have to have him stay at our house.
Wipe the sink down. Wipe the kitchen counters. Make the bed. Assemble all the dirty clothes from the luggage and stuff in the washer. Stuff Stuff stuff....you know they'll fit!

Having been pretty low key all day I'm itching to get out again but the forecast calls for another 3"-6" of snow overnight. I'm sure cabin fever will kick in if work isn't open tomorrow but all is well because we have Mad Men Season 1 to catch up on. Yay!
Long entry coming to an end promeese.
Love you all, I hope you have a lovely evening!

After spending most of the weekend inside due to the snow storm I have to say I'm glad that the ice has melted.
We woke up Saturday morning both having cabin fever and wanting to get out of the house.
Initially we thought to take the car out but as you can see above our windows were covered with a thick layer of ice topped by a couple of inches of snow. There wasn't any kind of defrosting that could get our car on the road. Still itching to do something we decided to start walking and ended up a few miles down the road at Barnes and Noble to look at magazines, a burrito at Taco Bell and a warm chai for the walk back home.
As you can see in the last photo the sidewalks didn't give way to any traction and Adam slipped a lot because of his shoes but no scrapes or bruises.
The rest of the weekened we didn't do much as church was canceled. I took the opportunity to clean every inch of the house because a plumber was coming today and Directv as well.
Alrighty off for the night, I hope you have a wonderful Monday evening!

Monday Monday Monday

Once again we've started another week bringing forth a cold front to the western part of the state.
I was happy to have the 60 degree weather and think of the fun that spring brings in but I shouldn't have been so fooled, it is still January and the snow has yet to really fall. Infact a "snow storm" is in the forecast for Thursday which will most likely be a few flurries with grocery stores sold out of milk and bread.
In other news, tomorrow will be our 6 month anniversary. Can you believe how fast these months have gone by? We were talking about it today on the way home from the grocery store and we're glad that the stress of the wedding weighing on us has now left. I kid you not, there was probably more worry about rain, tents, cake, and hay bales than glee over the life we were about to start together. As much as I would love to go back to our honeymoon and walking around the streets of San Francisco I wouldn't take away what we have now. We have our little routines, we cook together and read our books in bed at night- watch 'Castle' on Mondays and and and....I love what we have. He's my best friend and love! So here's to the next 6 months and 60 years :)
With all this talk of chilly days to come I dream of what will keep me warm...in style.

I just can't stand it when I see girls in baggy sweat pants and ugg boots. Take five minutes to throw on a beautiful scarf, button up a boyfriend blazer and pull boots on. I meannnn c'mon. But that's just me, Adam says I'll get ready to go to the post office and it's true. Always look your best, soap is cheap and water's free.
{I'm off the soap box now}
Keep cozy tonight, I hope to update tomorrow with pictures I've actually taken. {Oh yes, btw I found my camera!!} I'm trying to organize our guestroom closet. Believe me it's bad.
Okay g'night!

Don't you love it? As I normally have a long list of tasks today I had only one which I accomplished. Organize our files. Done and done, man I love this monday.
What a quiet night we've had around here or day rather.. Adam has studied himself silly over the past week and a half while I have....blogged myself silly. I've become completely addicted to design/lifestyle/fashion blogs which I have given me such inspiration for our daily lives.
We woke up this morning to gray misty skies and a chilly breeze as we were on our way to school and work. Eager to start this week seeing as Thanksgiving is oh so near, I woke up early to get ready for the day. Both of us are ready for a break from the daily grind and we just found out that we'll have Adam's parents house to ourselves on Saturday night. We were told that in honor of taking care of the animals (Itty Bitty (Cat) Elli (dog) and Abbie (dog) , we'll be given a bottle of red wine. I think it's a fair trade, just sayin'.   :)
Oh and guess what?!! I'm making my verrrrry first pecan pie. Yes, homemade....from scratch...betsy crocker-ing it up! I found a recipe via, none other than Martha Stewart that seems simple enough for me to cook up. I talked to my mom on the phone yesterday while she was grocery shopping and she told me allll of the wonderful food she'll be making for our family, I'm utterly ecstatic.

Time to pass the computer on, Adam has to write a Business Organization Outline.
Happy Monday, lovelies.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness.

It is Monday again and the week has begun.  I have to say, not that most would disagree, but the weekend is entirely too short! Now that the sun starts to go down at 4:30 I feel like I only have half days. I surely don't miss the sweltering heat of the summer though the longer days I've become wishful for.
Yesterday afternoon once all of our home improvements were finished Adam and I went for a jog. Yes a jog!  We've both committed to running a 5K race in April for Race Judicata so now our training begins. Our plan is to not only to recognize a great cause but also get fit and support each other. A bucket-list to do is well on its way. April, here we come!
Along the same lines of getting fit I want to be in the process of taking care of Betsy as best I can. Enjoy the parts of life that help me to appreciate the beauty and glamor in my day to day.

Here's to keeping promises. Here's to being bold. Here's to being elated with where God has placed me.....
Have a lovely evening!
