Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve morning and after a long drive for Daddy and Josh (my brother) to pick up Papa from North Carolina and Adam & I from Memphis, we've all gathered in Nashville.

Every time we visit Papa or vice-versa he is always sweet enough to take us out to eat and today we're all headed to Cracker Barrell. If you're not from the south you'll have no idea what I'm taking about, but if you are from here Pancakes, old country store goodies and fried apples come to mind. I'm so excited for this yummy food and time with my family! We'll spend tonight with Adam's family and will get to open {all}, yes all, presents with them and watch movies. Tomorrow morning the two of us with get up bright and early to come back to my parents house to spend Christmas day with them. I am absolutely in love with this time of year not just for the decorations or shopping {goodness knows I have a love for shopping} but as I've moved away I rarely see my family and the holidays bring all of us together.

A few more presents need to be purchased and wrapped today so I've got to get on that...off to breakfast!
I hope you enjoy these next couple of days spent with family and friends.

...on the road again

Currently in the backseat of my moms car with Adam and my parents on our way to Mobile,Al.
Stopped at a gas station to fill up and disperse the bugers for lunch, I decided to make a post. There's a new found love I've got for my moms blackberry (crackberry) and I've been looking at blogs for the past hour. Currently obsessed with 'the bottom of the ironing basket'.
Ready for this unhealthy savory lunch, I hope your weekend is wonderful!

{Oooops I forgot to post the final product of our newest tradition, making a gingerbread house.}

 :The icing falling from the roof are supposed to be icicles, of course, not a melting gingerbread wonderland:

{And a  couple more...}

A Fine Feathered Frenzy

As of lately I've had quite an obsession with feathers and fur.
I did a post a couple of weeks ago featuring beautiful clothing and home decor with fur but have since found so many more beautiful pieces! Today I'll be featuring only feathers, lovely lovely, feathers.
It's a cold day in Memphis and so the two of us are headed to the mall for some Christmas shopping.

A Very Merry Gingerbread Weekend

We had such a wonderful weekend despite the rain that fell.
Saturday was Adam's 24th birthday which we celebrated of course with the start of Gibson's Donuts and some of our favorite magazines.

Birthday Boy!

Since the rain was pouring we stayed in for the afternoon and watched movies while cuddled up on the couch and later ate at Huey's for his b-day dinner. Huey's is a memphis burger joint famous for their, well, burgers (soooo yummy) and the toothpicks people have thrown on the ceiling. Gross, I know. But it's kitschy and so we like it.
Yesterday we finally got to visit the newly married couples sunday school class. I've been yearning for friendships with couples that are in the same place in their lives as we are and I hope we find those friendships there. We truly enjoyed the teachers and how much it related to what we're going through as a couple. Although we won't be able to attend the next couple of weeks for being out of town, I'm excited for January and all of the wonderful relationships God has in store for the both of us.
Seeing as we've started this new life together as a married couple we decided that we want to build our own traditions for every holiday/season. A tradition I wanted to institute was making a gingerbread house! For some reason we never really made one, that I can remember, as a kid and I felt it was about time.
No no no I did not bake my own gingerbread, I wanted to make a pretty house, not burn it before it was put up! Many thanks goes to Wal Mart for mass producing a cheap version with all the accoutrement that we needed for only $8!

 And a few pictures of our lovely little place with some Christmas cheer :)

{Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!}
{Target seemed to lie about this tree being 6' tall, I'm going with more like 5'5"}

{The garland I made above a doorway}
-Please excuse the poor picture quality-

{Even our bathroom towels have been decorated}

{Our Dresser}

{My bedside table with some holly berries I picked from our bushes in the front yard}

{The shelf above our kitchen sink dressed with merry berries as well!}

More posts for this week that I'm quite excited about, feathers anyone?

Cold December

You wouldn't believe how chilly the weather has become, not to mention gray and dreary.
Yesterday was gross and rainy leaving us Davis's to stay inside, watch Julie & Julia and cooooook some yummy food.
I have to say that when we get together in the kitchen we mesh and work really well together. On the menu: Pork sauteed in onions and a port wine reduction with homemade creamed spinach (MY VICE!!) and cornbread stuffing. Aside from a tasty dinner and a great movie, there's not much else to speak of.
Tomorrow will be Adam's final exam, Tax followed by a wonderful Christmas break celebration dinner at Houston's.
The next couple of weeks at work will be quite short seeing as we'll drive down to Mobile to celebrate my Grandparent's 50th anniversary followed by a few days before Christmas.
I feel absolutely boring right now and all I can think about is getting some slippers for my frigid toes.
Warm up my lovelies, snow should be arriving soon. {Cross your fingers for a snow day!}

Happy Weekend

No matter how I spend my days or how much I try to accomplish in a week, I feel like these days are shorter than ever. Okay I know that the sun goes down pretty much right after lunch time, but oh how these weeks have flown by! But what I'm most excited for is that this Christmas season is upon us. Our home is decorated, there's a small carton of egg nog in our fridge....not to mention we went to our first holiday party last night.
My work held their Christmas party at a local country club filled with scrumptious food, a live band, dancing and an open bar. :) I was so excited to get out for an evening and really dress up.
Thanks to Kelly Ripa I found a new nail polish by Essie {Mink Muffs} which went perfectly with my Kimchi & Blue dress, gray of course, and a little leather jacket. Love love love to dress up. I've been wearing heels so much more by the way, 'tis the season to take care of yourself. Adam and I definitely enjoyed the night with seeing my co-workers out of our work element and just simply getting to know each other. Oh and to boot we won a $50 giftcard to Houston's Steak House! The prize Adam was drooling over was the Kindle but all is well because we get to have a fun date night, just the two of us. Alrighty so I'm off to get some Starbucks for Adam. He has an intense exam tomorrow so we won't be able to attend church :( but I'm going to take care of him while he studies his brains out.
Have a lovely rest of the weekend, Merrrry Christmas!

A lot was accomplished today despite not haveing a to-do list but with being gone most of last week and all of last weekend I was in a funk with getting my usual tasks done. Though very excited about Christmas decorating, we still have our suitcase from Sunday on the floor beside the bed. That's so bad, isn't it? C'est la vie. I will take care of it tomorrow and life shall go on.
I made the finishing touches on our porch with garland and our window facing the street is now adorned with a wreath and crisp white ribbon. {And a few holly berries too for color} There's a garland hanging over a walkway in the living room with Christmas ornaments in wonderful shades of emerald green and bronze. Also a cute mistletoe ornament I bought at our Pottery Barn outlet for only $2! Man oh man, Christmas is my most favorite holiday. Next weekend I hope to make a gingerbread house from scratch. {Okay that probably won't happen from scratch}
While sweeping off our front porch, steps and walkway; they were completely covered in leaves; I thought of how my whole life I dreamed of being able to decorate my own house. Now, at 21 and newly married, I'm able to do just that.
Off to watch a movie we got from redbox, Paper Heart. Oh and say a prayer for Adam...he has another final tomorrow from 8-12. Yes a 4 hour final.

Goodnight lovelies :)

It's been gloomy and rainy all day long.
For a couple of hours this afternoon we went to our local Barnes & Noble {free wi-fi} so Adam could have a change of pace for studying and my ability to read allll of the magazines I'm obsessed with. Utterly obsessed.
After Barnes & Noble as well as a quick run to the grocery store, we've eaten a hearty bowl of kale and potato soup and have settled in for the evening. As per every Wednesday night, we're tuned into ABC for our favorite Wednesday night lineup of shows.
In honor of this grimey day, a few pictures to cozy up to.

Glamour Poste

Such a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend we had! With family, food and cozy homes, Adam and I spent our first big holiday as a married couple cuddling up to movies and 3:00 am shopping lines.
Yes, 3 am.
We ate our weight in stuffing and turkey much to our bodies chagrin. Honestly, I can't remember the lst time I stuffed myself so much. It was glorious! More than all of the food and early morning sales, we most enjoyed the times we spent with our families. I miss them more than anything or anyone else in this world. It's so so so very hard to be away from them but when we do get to visit, the time is sweet and special.
I've put up most of our Christmas decorations but am working on a few keys things to finish everything off. My wonderful parents were abundantly nice in buying us our first ornaments and little pieces to put around the house. Our tree is up {I hope to post pictures within these next few days}, the front door wreath is hung up, I've cut the holly berries from our bushes out front and am working on the garland that will go above a doorway. Eeep I'm so excited!
Without further ado, a few lovely, glamourous pieces to keep you warm.

Happy Thanksgiving

As per Thanksgiving tradition, I'm trading in my laptop for stovetop. And for the next 16 hours, the only thing I'll be dishing is seconds. Have a happy holiday everyone!

Don't you love it? As I normally have a long list of tasks today I had only one which I accomplished. Organize our files. Done and done, man I love this monday.
What a quiet night we've had around here or day rather.. Adam has studied himself silly over the past week and a half while I have....blogged myself silly. I've become completely addicted to design/lifestyle/fashion blogs which I have given me such inspiration for our daily lives.
We woke up this morning to gray misty skies and a chilly breeze as we were on our way to school and work. Eager to start this week seeing as Thanksgiving is oh so near, I woke up early to get ready for the day. Both of us are ready for a break from the daily grind and we just found out that we'll have Adam's parents house to ourselves on Saturday night. We were told that in honor of taking care of the animals (Itty Bitty (Cat) Elli (dog) and Abbie (dog) , we'll be given a bottle of red wine. I think it's a fair trade, just sayin'.   :)
Oh and guess what?!! I'm making my verrrrry first pecan pie. Yes, homemade....from scratch...betsy crocker-ing it up! I found a recipe via, none other than Martha Stewart that seems simple enough for me to cook up. I talked to my mom on the phone yesterday while she was grocery shopping and she told me allll of the wonderful food she'll be making for our family, I'm utterly ecstatic.

Time to pass the computer on, Adam has to write a Business Organization Outline.
Happy Monday, lovelies.
