Delighfully Unexpected Brunch

When it comes to impromptu entertaining my initial reaction is 'Come on over!' but then I tend to work myself into a frenzy over cleaning the house and making sure there is good food around. This makes me believe I'm not a 'fly by the seat of my pants' kind of girl. Whatevs... I'm sure this is a typical reaction for most so I won't give myself too hard a time.

Thursday afternoon I got a call from my Mom that my Uncle and Cousin would be in town for the weekend and I jumped at the chance to host my cousin Tessa. {My uncle was staying with my parents but of course he would have been and is more than welcome to stay as well!} I went home after work and got busy cleaning the guest room, washing the sheets and prepping our home. Don't you just love when your space is fresh? I feel I sleep better when things are picked up and wiped off.

Friday I left work early to hang out with my family and later on that night we all gathered for dinner and watched paranormal shows. {Little known fact about the Harvill's, we Tivo every ghost show imaginable. Literally, 85% that air on tv get recorded.} That night we talked about plans for Saturday and what to do for breakfast. At some point I volunteered our home to host all 9.5 of us. Hasty much, Betsy? Girl you've got like one tiny couch and a little space on the floor to sit.  How's that gonna work out for ya?

Once in bed that night I went a little nuts on Pinterest to figure out what to fix. From Stratta's and casserole's to muffins and granola, I think I overwhelmed myself a bit. After a searching storm I thought back to a blogger whose work I consistently drool over. Jenny Steffens Hobick over at 'Everyday Occasions' always shares simple and easy ways to have a get together. I thought to myself, WWJD (What would Jenny Do) and I realized she would keep it simple. She would use what she already had readily available in her pantry. With that in mind I made a mental note of the few things I needed to do and decided I was no longer going to flip out.

At 10:15 Saturday morning everyone arrived and the coffee cups began to fill up. It was easy to put together and only took about 30 minutes of prep time. Our house still smells of bacon...it's glorious. I snapped a few photos to remember and thought it might be fun to share with you.

I hope this week finds you well! Being that our county is on Spring Break,  traffic was hardly an issue on my way to work this morning - fist pump! Yayy!
I'll talk to you soon....xoxo bd

Lipstick Addict

Lipstick Addict

Lipstick Addict by lovelybdavis

As I was going through my little makeup bag in my purse I began to pull out all of my lipsticks. Admittedly I love lip products. But I'm not alone here, people. It's been said that the average woman eats 4 to 9 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime, that’s somewhere between 481 and 1083 tubes. Wowza. Granted, I don't actually eat up my lipstick but it sure was hard not to lick them to bits when I was 12 and wore Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers. Seriously, it tastes just like Dr. Pepper!
I think I'm getting too far from what I meant to write about. Moving On!

Above are the lipsticks I currently carry in my purse (there are also a few chapsticks/lip butters and glosses that I carry). See what I mean? Who needs 5 lipsticks at all times? Me…. apparently.
I never realized how much I love a bright lip but by looking through my bag, there’s not a neutral one in sight!  What I love most is that they instantly amp up your look. If I don’t have time to do my hair in the morning and just throw it in a top knot, I will make sure I put on lipstick. So simple but it makes me feel like I put in a little bit of effort.
So there you are, I’ll admit it, I’m an addict of epic and colorful proportions.

First Day of Spring - Spring Things Mixtape

It's official, today is the first day of Spring! Bring on the sun, longer days and bright colors, please!
Here's the thing though, one might think they can now change over their closet by switching to skirts and shorts or kicking off their boots and slipping into sandals, but rarely is that true here in the south.
Last weekend we had temps that reached the mid 70s and tonight we will get into the 20s. Finnicky weather, right?
At some point we will switch seasons but until then, I give you my Spring Things Mixtape

Take a listen :)
Have a lovely first day of Spring!

Flashback Friday

I thought I'd throw this gem your way...a little Flashback Friday action of me and my brother in...I'm guessing around...1991.
I made this post Flashback Friday simply because 1. Catchy titles are always fun 2.Everyone likes to rhyme and 3. Well I'm one day late for Throwback Thursday!
Please note my brother's devious looking grin and my amazing sun glasses. Also, please note I was rocking this seasons blunt bang 12 years ago. Talk about ahead of the times!
Here's to a fantastic Friday! xoxo bd
*Again with the rhyming, you're welcome*

Current Beauty Favorites

Current Beauty Favorites

Current Beauty Favorites by lovelybdavis

Happy Humpday, the work week is officially half way over *woot woot*
! Seeing as I have been adding new beauty products to my daily routine and thought I might share a few of them with you.

Josie Maran Argan Oil:  This been such an amazing night time face moisturizer. The thought of placing pure oil on your face may scare you but I promise this stuff sinks right in just beautifully. An added benefit to the above product is that you can not only use it on your face but on your hair, cuticles and skin.  I place this after I've washed my face and then afterwards top it with a night cream.

Essie Nail Polish in Enuf is Enuf:  One night, about a year ago, Adam made a run to the store and came back with that beautiful polish in hand. He said he wanted to get me something fun to brighten my day.  First of all, yes. Let's add that to the list of why I love my husband. It is a pretty mix between pink, orange and red. It looks great in the Spring and Summer on toesies!

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish: Oh snap. This lip scrub knows whats up. It exfoliates like a dream and only takes a tiny amount to get rid of any dead skin. I like to use this after I've brushed my teeth at night and after I've scrubbed will then lather on a kick butt lip butter.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle: Well hello there healthy glow, where have you been? This highlighter proves to brighten up my face in the most subtle way. I place this on the tops of my cheek bones and on my brown bone. There are days when I have simply used it as my blush and love it just as much!

Dr. Jart+ BB Beauty Balm: If you want to even out your skin tone but don't want to feel like you have caked foundation all over your face, go with this BB cream. I originally tried a sample through my Birchbox and loved it immediately. I kept the sample in my makeup bag until I purchased the full size a couple of weeks later. I love that it has SPF 25 as well!

There you have it, my latest beauty additions.
I'll talk to you soon! xoxo bd

Hairy Situation

I will be getting a hair cut in T-minus 30 minutes. *Eeek* I am always excited to try something new and have an opportunity to change up my routine. I also love getting my hair washed and styled and just plain being pampered. My great grandmother was on to something when she had her hair done every week.
In December I made a "drastic" change and cut roughly 8''-10'' off. My hair was entirely too long and thick so I made a change. It's time for a followup cut and I want to go a little more sleek. Something clean and easy.
Above are some inspiration photos I've pinned and emailed to myself. You can tell they are all very similar if not the exact same cut and...well...color. Off I go!
I hope you have a lovely Spring Tuesday!
Talk to you soon, xoxo bd
