Saturday

I hope your past week was met with more triumphs than losses and that you are able to truly relax today.

Don't you just love Saturdays? When I think of Saturday mornings I sincerely get a feeling of relief- its like I've gotten a pass and I don't have to worry, because today, I'm off.  I don't have to respond to that email. I don't have to prepare the paperwork. I really needed today ... So enjoy your self- or as they say on Parks and Rec, Treat yo self!

I'll talk to you soon...

House Sitting

This weekend Adam and I are house sitting for one of my co-workers. No, we are not jumping on the beds and the dog won't be hopping onto the sheets anytime soon, but we sure are having fun.
{It's our mini getaway}
Throughout my college/single years I house and dog sat like no body's business. Like, straight ballin  a lot.
During the summer months (prime house sitting season) I would stay at other people's homes more than I would my own. It was glorious. I loved new environments, fun animals to play with and having the opportunity to see my city from a different angle.
This time around we are staying in a log cabin that is set on top of a hill nestled between acres of trees (with wifi, of course) that is only 5 minutes from town. That's a pretty darn great combo, don't you think? Did I mention the weather is going to be amazing?! Hallelujah.

So I'm off to sit and stuff... I'll talk to you soon

A Simple Saturday

Hey you!

Saturdays are kind of my favorite day. I try to not have any obligations so that I can get up when I want to, clean if I need or cook if I please. I like having flexibility on Saturdays as Monday thru Friday are full of clocking in and getting things done in a timely manner. That is all fine and good, and productive really, but sometimes I like to lay on my bed listening to music for hours.

Last night we went out for pizza with a couple and the husband is a police officer who is with Adam on a regular basis in the court room. They were nice enough to ask if we would like to eat with them and I am so glad that we did. We arrived at 6 and left at 10 only because they were literally locking up the restaurant. It's really interesting the lives these guys lead. Adam and Jeremy that is. Both kept sharing crazy stories about clients, intense DA's, napping judges, naked people, drug stories, raids and the list goes on. I sure do hope we get to hang out with them again!

For most of today Adam has been taking care of office things while I have been very successful in painting my nails and making a kick butt salad for lunch. I think he wins the award for being most productive...just sayin'.

So here's to rest & relaxation and a Happy Weekend! Talk to you soon!

Weekend Update

If you watch SNL {Saturday Night Live} I'm sure you are familiar with Weekend Update with Seth Meyers. By far, that is my favorite segment. I'm not sure why exactly, but I never stop laughing when it comes on...not  to mention when Stefon is on. The Mother's Day Ideas segment is my absolute favorite. Hands down.  I literally cackle every time I watch it.
Oh and if you haven’t seen this past week’s episode where Melissa McCarthy hosted, well you best watch that right about now.

Saturday Adam said he quite a craving for sushi so we set out for one of our local favorites, ‘Peters’, only to find out they were closed. Insert sad face. I recalled another sushi joint in town that I hadn't been to in years so off we went! We headed to Bodeli Sushi in Cool Springs/Franklin and found that they had an all you can eat special. Now, if it were 'all you can eat chicken fried steak' or 'all you can eat hashbrown casserole', we would have passed…but all you can eat sushi?! Yes, please!

Can you believe the damage we made at the end of the meal? In case you are curious there are typically 3 pieces of sushi per plate.
In the middle of the restaurant is the “kitchen” or prep space where the sushi chef prepares all of the rolls and then places them on small plates that go around on a conveyor belt. Each plate has a colored ring around it that indicates the price of the sushi/item.  They had everything from simple Philly Rolls to sea weed to dumplings to cabbage rolls to tempura rolls. See something you like? Grab it! It gives new meaning to instant gratification, you know? We were in heaven. I made a little video on Vine HERE to see it in action!

Sunday we took the day off of our normal commitments as Adam had planned to work with his boss but it turned into another date day for us.
I like him a lot…I really really like hanging out with him. I still have a school girl crush on that man.
We got groceries for the week and later spent the evening cleaning our home. Every window was open bringing in the sunshine and a light breeze. Here’s an instagram of what we did:

We changed all of our winter bedding out, cleaned the master bathroom, vacuumed all of the floors and wiped the baseboards, organized our closets, did loads and loads of laundry, dishes, and took out the trash literally 3 times. By the end of the night we cooked some vegan pizza for dinner and conked out.  We felt very accomplished!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and are ready to start the week! I'll talk to you soon...

Happy Weekend

Happy amazing relaxing joyous Saturday! I so look forward to my weekends especially after the work week can sometimes wear you down.
If you recall from a previous post about a month ago, Adam and I were given a gift certificate for a local restaurant, Mack and Kate's. We were so blessed to be given a gift so big that we could spread it out amongst multiple meals.
I have heard wonderful things about M&K's brunch so it seemed fitting on a long weekend like this, to check it out. We came at the perfect time where we were seated and served immediately.
Wanna see my date? Okay, fine fine I'll let you take a gander :)

Can you tell he's ready for game day? LSU plays tonight so we both wore purple in honor of the Tigers.
Chances are that I will be playing on Pinterest, but I love him and try to support his interests. {Ha, I rhymed!}

Like I said, I like to support him so I wore my purple ruffly top for the day...and for LSU, of course!

Okay now, back to the good stuff, the food.

Instead of serving biscuits before brunch they serve muffins. Such a cute touch, don't you think?
The chocolate chip cappuccino was scrumptious! Oh and that's honey butter just in case you were drooling wondering; it's the little things I tell ya.

But because we had money to burn we said, let's have biscuts and jam too!
 {Side note: The Mr. isn't much of a muffin fan}

You might think I thirsty from all of those pre-meal goodness bites of heaven, why yes I was, so I sipped on an iced cold tea. I'm southern, tea goes with every meal!

We both ordered the open faced BLT with fried egg and hash browns. Oh. My. Word.
This melted in our mouths; every bite was filled with crunch, gooey egg, crispy bacon and sweet wheat bread. I was full from the biscuits and muffins that I only ate half of my sandwich but don't you fret, I finished it later on in the afternoon.  Delightful.

Guess what? We still have money left on the gift card and are already planning a day for us to catch another bite to eat. Gosh I love dates with that guy, he's the bees knees!
If you are in the Nashville/Franklin/Brentwood area, please check this lovely place out, Mack and Kate's.
Until next time, I'll talk to you soon.

Have a lovely, rainy weekend!

Okay so I changed up the lyrics to 'Folsom Prison' to suit this past week and coming weekend's forecast.
If you live in the U.S., which chances are you do, you have been hearing on the news about Hurricane Isaac.
My family in Mobile, AL has definitely felt the brunt with rising waters in their front yard (they live on Mobile Bay) and so have their neighbors. Piers have been torn apart and washed up on shore, some of the bulk head has washed away and most have left their homes boarded up. Such is the life of a dweller by the sea...or Mobile Bay.
Here in middle Tennessee we will be met with many thunderstorms over this long weekend. In a perfect world, the weather would be clear and crisp for a camping trip. But maybe what I really need are naps under warm blankets while the rain pounds the pavement. ...and maybe a movie marathon or two...
I hope you enjoy your Friday night, it looks like a date night is in store for me and the Mr.!
I'll talk to you soon...

Sunday Funday

It has become quite the tradition that every Sunday we go over to my parents house for lunch. When I was little, while we lived in south Alabama, we would go to my grandparent's home and do the exact same thing. Relax, eat, hang out, take naps, catch up from the past week and have a great time. When we were little I know it was a respite for my parents to have the kids run around with a little extra help. Now we are older and are pretty good at taking care of ourselves, but the time are still as sweet.

Daddy made sure the grill was fired up and hot for the burgers which were perfect for the beautiful late summer day. We sipped on wine, watched some fun shows and stayed until 5 o'clock. I love this time in my life where I get to spend time with my family on a regular basis.
Thank you to my parents for always providing a comfortable place to land at the end of a busy week!
I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

I'll talk to you soon!

The Cozy Guestroom

I was browsing through Pinterest {Big, whopping surprise of the century, I know} and I came upon that little ditty up there. I love to go on vacation. Period. I love to relax in a room with freshly fluffed pillows and carpets that were vacuumed by someone other than myself. Does that sound weird? Does anyone else feel that way?
So off with my rambling, I love the water-colored guestroom painting.
It appeals to me in so many ways and I'm not sure why. Maybe it is all of the details put together for a perfectly relaxing stay. Maybe it's exactly what I would enjoy while staying over at someone else's home.
Maybe I need to invite more people over to stay and this is my inspiration.
Whatever I choose to like more, I have come to the conclusion that our guestroom needs a little more attention...guests and decor! Does this mean I have a legitimate excuse to buy beautiful flowers? I sure hope so...
Have a lovely {cozy} weekend, I'll talk to you soon!

Overdue Weekend Update

I may be a little late in the weekend update department but thought I could share a few photos anyway. First of all, Happy August! We have officially made it over half way through 2012. I’m continually surprised at how the months speed on through. It seems like just a couple of weeks ago kids were getting out of school for the summer and as of today they have started back.
In no particular order, here was our weekend in pictures:

Its great when you can find the person you can be your silliest with.

Breakfast at Cracker Barrel, a southern favorite which gives you plenty of grits, biscuits and gravy and  games!

We took a swim in our neighborhood pool. Don't be fooled, I  had yet to be in the sun for more than a couple of minutes when this picture was taken. My body does not take well to sun...at all. I burn while driving in the car. Yeah, I'm one of those.

Lots of laundry and cleaning to be taken care of.

A small ides of a baby shower craft I was working on. So many fun projects!

So that was a little peek into our weekend. While my hubby golfed I spent time by myself catching up on life and watching The Help. You is Kind. You is Smart. You is Imporant.
I hope you have a lovely Wednesday, we can make it to Friday!

Lovely Little Weekend Recap

Hello one and all (of the two of you)!
I hope you had a great late July weekend and Monday! Can you believe how quickly this month has passed? In a mere 2 days Adam and I will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary. Talk about time flying by. In a sense I feel like it was just last week that we tied the knot and in another I feel like it was 10 years ago. In a good way, of course :)

I wanted to share some photos I took throughout our weekend and again, I’m giving all of my pictorial documentation credit to Instagram and my iPhone. If it weren’t for those two helpers I might rarely take a picture of our day to day life.
Friday evening we went to Mellow Mushroom for pizza with my favorite Holli, her hubby-to-be Justin and lovely sister, Anne. By the time our pizza arrived at the table we all became silent ravenous folk. I love spending time with them; I always laugh really hard and come away with a smile. They will be getting married in just under 100 days per their calculation. So exciting!
Saturday I spent with my mom scouting out décor for my sister-in-law’s baby shower. Yay for baby Harvill on the way! We addressed envelopes and walked up and down the aisles of Hobby Lobby. You best give me at least an hour if I walk in there. It’s a dream land I tell ya. Pure crafty discounted bliss.  Tonight I will be cutting burlap and painting J I’ll try to utilize my iPhone again for your viewing pleasure. While I was ogling over fabric swatches, the hubby was playing golf with his boss. Golf by the way is his new found love. Obsession, if you will. He went Saturday and yesterday!

We spent the better part of our evening catching up on Revenge. I know. Don’t get me started. We spent hours watching episode after dramatic episode.  Not sure if I’ve mentioned it but we recently went cable-less. No satellite for us Davis’s so we have succumb to Netflix and Hulu for our nightly television.
Sunday we slept in past church (due to excessive Revenge…shame…for shame!) and decided to utilize the rest of our time by running errands and cleaning house.  I made our current favorite, Roasted Lime Basil Salmon for dinner and we of course finished the rest of Revenge. If you watched the show, including the finale, you know how anxious we are to see the second season. We may have even googled when it premieres because we can't wait. We may have? We totally did.
Also, I did try out the SNBR (Sunday Night Beauty Routine) with success! I soaked my feet in our at home foot bath and painted my nails!

Early on in the evening I made some chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. For some reason, since we went to Disneyland and I had a chocolate covered banana for a snack, I've been hooked! I feel like I'm eating an ice cream treat without the guilt! Yumm.
Tonight Adam's bff Harrison will be in town so I should make sure his room is taken care of.
I hope that you have a lovely Tuesday!
I’ll talk to you soon

A Weekend Away in Kentucky

Sometimes you need a little time away from your busy life to get perspective and this past weekend we did exactly that! My best girlfriend of 15 years and her fiance (Congrats Holli and Justin!) invited us to his family's country home in rural Kentucky. The land is sprawling with beautifully blooming trees, a large creek edging the property, goats, turtles, donkeys, chickens, a cat named Callie, an 1800's log cabin...oh there was so much...I wish you could have been there!
We arrived late Friday night to put on some old clothes and take a tour of the property on an ATV. Trudging through rocky creeks and muddy hills we even got a few glimpses of deer running about!

Saturday morning the boys woke to get breakfast at a local pool hall while us girls stayed back to lounge around. I took a few pictures of the land during the wee hours (ahem...ahem 9 am)...as I stepped outside all I could hear was the rushing water and the rooster crowing. I kid you not. Surreal.
Once the boys came back and we all filled up with some much needed coffee, we took the ATV's out for another run about the land. With the sun shining and a warm breeze blowing, it couldn't have been a more picturesque day. I found a new friend in one of their donkey's named Herman while Adam took a liking to Big Mamma, their massive turtle. There is a scientific name for that turtle but unfortunately, I'm not the one to ask. Moving on!
We had a bite to eat at a local bar-b-q restaurant then headed back to the house for some outdoorsy fun!
Let's just say we got a little dirty....okay...really really muddy! Actually, while the boys were shooting at targets us girls went "mudding" then jumped in a mud puddle for an added bonus. We were covered and the boys seemed to toe the line between shocked and impressed.

After much needed showers and scrub downs we settled in for the night. We had a big bonfire planned and even bought s'more stuff but we were rained out and turned it into an indoor party.
Note that there were board games and wine included :)

Our final day was the laziest of them all as we woke up ate, had some lunch, visited a local marina and headed back home.
Justin and Holli in their matching cuteness...
No makeup hotness and the hubby!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and have started this week off with a bang!
Hopefully we'll be able to visit again, but until then, I'll talk to you soon...

SheStyledIt: How I Store My Makeup

It's Friday! The weekend has arrived, I am ecstatic!
I would really enjoy visiting the world of sleeping in tomorrow....really really enjoy.
You may have read once or twice that I am a lover of all things organized. Well this week on SheStyledIt all of us girls (Andrea, Elly and Karina) are talking about how we store our makeup products. As the space that I store my makeup is quite small I thought I would show you all of my beauty items and how I try to maximize the space.
Whether you are a girly girl or love a good video on storage...cause who doesn't think about fun and storage in the same thought.....then please watch what I have posted below.
This weekend we'll be dog sitting for my boss as he and his family visit a college for their daughter. It doesn't hurt that they have a theater in their basement, if anything, it just adds to the beauty of this weekend. Oh and I also want to note that my dearest friend, Holli will be turning 24 on Saturday as well as my gorgeous and incomparable Mamma. (We'll just say she's turning 24, too!)
Definitely a busy few days ahead of us but I am eager to enjoy every minute.
Have a lovely Friday, I'll talk to you soon!

Vlogmas: Day 3

Happy weekend one and all, I hope that you had a spectacular Saturday and are now enjoying your Sunday!
While I hung out with my friend Lisa to shop for clothes and Adam watching football, our car was getting fixed. If you have known me for any length of time you will know that my cars have always had something wrong with them. We are no strangers to mechanics and our record is a mile long with all of the different things we have had to fix. One day I will drive a nice car that rarely breaks down....one day.
Without a shadow of a doubt I know that everything happens for a reason and am thankful that
God believes I can handle such moments in life. Stressful, humbling, frustrating, bank breaking moments that we have always gotten through.

Today is a new day with amazing family time that we will get to spend with my parents and grandfather. Blessings all around us!!!

Take care, I will be back tomorrow for more Vlogmas!

A Happy Thanksgiving Weekend

…and a very happy Saturday to you!
If you are like most of the U.S.,  you probably spent yesterday shopping amongst everyone else in your town for the best deals. All of the stuffing and turkey from Thursday put you in a food coma and Friday was your time to not only walk it off, but spend it off. In fact Adam, the hottest of the hottest hubbies ever, {okay I’m biased} waited in a long line at Best Buy for over 6 hours to get an Xbox 360. Granted, there were people in tents outside of the building since Monday, so I don’t consider him crazy at all.

We have been at my parents home for the majority of the weekend along with my brother Josh, his wife Amber and our grandfather, Papa!  It has been a while since Papa has spent Thanksgiving with us and this was Amber’s first which made Thursday a very special day. Who knows, next year there might be one or two little ones as well…
When you get all of us together there is no doubt about fun being had. We all enjoy being in the same room as each other so there will always be a movie or TV show on in the living room.
Getting the last bits of Amber's homemade cheesecake ready.
Not quite sure why I'm kneeling...she doesn't know why either, so let's just move on.

Again, not sure what we're doing...
 Me and my beautiful Mamma!
We're apparently twins. We wear neutral pancho-type outfits and carry the same purses.
 Sada-saaaaa Sada saaaaa!
Without a recipe, I attempted to make stuffing for the first time ever. I think it turned out quite yummy and the ever so popular turkey made  quite a "ham" of himself this year on top. Wow. Bad joke. Bad.

As you can see, the men were pretty M.I.A. in the pictures as they were either watching the football game or messing with their iPads.  Honestly, it looks like the only ones who attended our family shindig are my mom, Amber and myself but I promise all of the hubbies were there and Papa of course. Hopefully I will post a video of our fun times soon.
With that said, I am off to breakfast at Cracker Barrel with the family before we all part ways.
I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you spent it with those you love.
Talk to you soon,
Xoxo bd
