Insta-Weekend In Review

I’m pretty darn sure I have said this once and I will say it again, thank goodness for a camera phone and instagram. I love being able to document fun moments quickly and sharing them with friends and family! By the way, do we still call them camera phones? Is that ancient terminology now?

Speaking of ancient times: I saw this link today called '43 Things That Will Make You Feel Old" and indeed, I felt a little old. It has been a long time since I have seen some of that stuff. Does anyone else remember Discovery Zone? It's all 90’s kids memorabilia and was sucked in for sure.

Moving on to a quick recap of our weekend in pictures:

Drinks with my office after work on Thursday! I got the Pomojito and scouts honor, I sipped that up so fast, there couldn't have been alcohol in it! ...okay maybe a little ;)

My latest hair curling attempt. Win!

A few new items I picked up from Target! I love that lipgloss/stain on the far left. I would like every color!

For dinner on Sunday night we went to Bonefish Grill during happy hour and got some yummy drinks, ridiculous bang bang shrimp and seared ahi tuna!

We ended our evening by sitting outside on our patio, listened to music, sipped on some wine and played on our iPads. Perfect way to finish out the weekend!

Tonight we are celebrating Amber, my sis-in-laws birthday! Hopefully I'll capture a few pictures of our night there, as well! Also, click HERE if you want to follow me on Instragram.
Talk to you soon!

A Simple Saturday

Hey you!

Saturdays are kind of my favorite day. I try to not have any obligations so that I can get up when I want to, clean if I need or cook if I please. I like having flexibility on Saturdays as Monday thru Friday are full of clocking in and getting things done in a timely manner. That is all fine and good, and productive really, but sometimes I like to lay on my bed listening to music for hours.

Last night we went out for pizza with a couple and the husband is a police officer who is with Adam on a regular basis in the court room. They were nice enough to ask if we would like to eat with them and I am so glad that we did. We arrived at 6 and left at 10 only because they were literally locking up the restaurant. It's really interesting the lives these guys lead. Adam and Jeremy that is. Both kept sharing crazy stories about clients, intense DA's, napping judges, naked people, drug stories, raids and the list goes on. I sure do hope we get to hang out with them again!

For most of today Adam has been taking care of office things while I have been very successful in painting my nails and making a kick butt salad for lunch. I think he wins the award for being most productive...just sayin'.

So here's to rest & relaxation and a Happy Weekend! Talk to you soon!

*Alas, its true, I've grown fond of everyone with long hair and have decided to let mine grow out again... at least for the summer. I miss my beachy waves!
*Madeleine Peyroux has been my Pandora station of choice and all of her records are on repeat on Spotify all.week.long. If you like Billie Holiday you will love her! I like to listen to her while browsing Pinterest or while taking a bath. Pure relaxation!

Trading Paperwork for Pampering

Hi, friends! How are you? I hope you are doing well!
I don’t always talk about my job on here as, well, this is an outlet from my job and daily requirements but I thought I’d share a tidbit with you! Currently I am a legal assistant at a law firm and do everything from answering phones and making files to assisting in Probate cases and working on annual reports for businesses. I enjoy my job and the office that I work in. I think I've said it before, but truly my office feels like a family…a dysfunctional family, but a family none the less. Everyone plays their role and most days you’ll hear us just yelling up and down the hallway at each other It’s a small office of only 4 attorneys and 3 staff. April 24th was Administrator Appreciation Day and to honor the ladies in the office, we were treated to Pedicures and lunch this past Monday.  Please note that the men had a charity golf event to attend so they weren't left out one teensy bit!
It was so nice to walk into work on Monday and know that I would be able to relax a little as opposed to worrying about client signings or paperwork!

The four of us went to a local salon, The Nail Bar. I have never been to a spa/nail salon like this one before. It was dimly lit with fun  music playing, a large wall full of polishes and chandeliers everywhere! Very chic!

We were shown our seats, offered drinks and started to soak our feet. The service was wonderful and they all addressed us by our first names instead of  “Lady with the bad feet” or “Rough Cuticle Rachel”.
(This would be assuming my name is Rachel and that I have rough looking cuticles, which I don’t, of course. Obvi. )

And here we are at the end with our tootsies under the dryers. *Don't drink and dry, ladies!* Was that too corny?

As I mentioned it was a little dim in there so I apologize for the pictures being grainy.
We had a lot of fun an concluded that we should do this every quarter! Now we must convince the guys to be okay with it!
There you have it, from paperwork to pampering! The color I chose was 'You're a Pisa Work' by OPI. Its very cute, if I do say so myself!

Currently 5/1/13

Hello there! It has definitely been one hot minute since I last posted so I thought I’d pop in to give an update!
Truthfully I have been cheating on you. Yes, but it’s not what you think, I swear! You see, I have been writing in another online journal. BUT it is simply for personal reasons as opposed to public posts. Do you forgive me? Sometimes there are things that need to be let out but don’t need to be said to the world, you know?
It’s called ‘OhLife’ and every day you receive an email asking you how your day went. You simply hit reply and type whatever is on your mind. Once you press send the entry has been posted. There’s not a link to your page or a way to gather followers or even change up the font…it’s just an outlet. When I take the time to write the post I throw most writing rules out of the window. I write run on sentences, sometimes I curse, sometimes I jump from one thought to another and don’t connect the two. I find it to be so cathartic!

So what else has been going on recently? Well we officially have patio furniture! *These are the things you get excited for as an adult* Last Monday Adam called me on his way home from work and said he stopped into Target to finally buy us a table and chairs. We often talk about how nice it would be to sit outside on a beautiful evening to read our books or even have a little dinner but we pushed it off. Now, I am so glad we purchased them! As we don’t have a large outdoor space and it is typically just the two of us, we bought a small-ish dinner table with two chairs. They all fold up which means if a hefty storm blows through or we go out of town for an extended period of time, we can simply bring them into the kitchen. Perfect!
A few days ago I made pizza and we sat outside to enjoy the sun going down as pictured in the very top picture. The above photo is the back of our patio area, by the way.

We hope to bring in some flower pots, maybe an outdoor rug and of course some lights like this!

In other news we spent last Wednesday thru Saturday with Adam’s parents. His dad had knee surgery early Thursday morning *all is well!* and Adam  took him to the appointment. We stayed to help with the animals and meals and whatever else they might need. It was fun to get away for a few days! Also, being that they are 10 minutes north of us, I had a shorter drive to work! Yay!

Saturday we spent time in Nashville at Opry Mills and Green Hills Mall to get some Spring/Summer shopping done. We have a wedding to attend this weekend for a long time friend and I had to find a cute dress to wear so basically I had no choice but to go shopping. Another long time purchase we have wanted to make was for perfume and cologne! Last June when we visited California, we went into Bloomingdales only to smell some of the most amazing scents from Jo Malone. The lady who helped us sent us home with close to 20 samples each. {God bless you woman!} I fell in love with Wild Bluebell and made sure to grab a sample whenever I went into our local Nordstrom. Adam fell just as hard for their unique fragrances so we decided it had to happen. We had lusted after them for a year so we knew it would be a worthwhile purchase. I’ll post those and a couple of other recent purchases very soon!

So that’s been our life lately… I hope you are having a great week thus far! We’ve made it to Wednesday- holla for humpday!
I’ll talk to you soon! Xoxo bd
