It is on very rare occasions that I am up this late, late being 11:00 at night and my hubby in bed.
Once we were married he was the official night owl and I was the geriatric asleep by 9:30.  Not sure what happened between the ages of 19 and 22 but my sleeping habits turned upside down.
There is a very good reason for him doing this out of the norm, tomorrow morning he has an interview with a possible employer. As a law school student is highly recommended that you have 1-2 internships. While he couldn't last summer (that whole wedding thing, you know), he now has the opportunity. Truthfully that was the reason why we moved for this short period. I felt that as his wife I would follow him to wherever it was he needed to go in order to accomplish what was needed. Thus, Franklin!
Pray that he makes a striking impression {which I know he will} and can come out of that interview with a summer internship.
Fingers Crossed.

I wanted to make a special post in honor of my husband who has started his own blog. With his passion for music, and great taste at that, he is talking about his favorite bands and reviewing their new albums. Check out his latest post focused on Ratat's newest release.

A little purple, please

One of the luxuries Adam and I are given at this time in our lives is flexibility.
The beauty of that flexibility is we were granted the opportunity to come back "home" to be with our families until August. Last summer was spent crazily planning for the wedding, a place to live and a job for myself in Memphis. Now we are able to relax and enjoy the little things.
Today my mom and I will spend time together by picking up a few necessities and purchasing a new pair of frames for myself! I have worn the same frames since I was 16, because of the wear and tear they have now fallen apart. I've used electrical tape and regular clear tape but no luck.
I cherish this time we've been given to truly truly enjoy the relationships we have with our families. I so dearly love my mom and the ability to hang out with her!

Have a lovely Tuesday, friends!

The after effects of this weekend have left me exhausted and needing a few elegant photos to rest my eyes on.

All the festivities started on Friday evening as friends and family came over for dinner at the Davis home. Adam's younger brother Daniel graduated from highschool early Saturday morning (Congratulations!) followed by lots of family time and pizza. Sunday was very low key. The guys (Adam, cousin Chris, and Joe {father-in-law}) left at 6 for a fishing trip to Kentucky lake bringing back around 20 pounds worth of brim and a large catfish. While the men were out all of us girls had a day of shopping! Doesn't that just relieve so much stress?
We finished off the night with a final family dinner at Red Lobster before every one left to go back to their respective homes in different states.
Tonight all I want to do is lie on the couch with my husband and make up all of the tv shows we've missed for the past few days. An essential to this evening will include reading in my oh so good book which I hope to talk about soon.
I hope you all enjoy the beginning to your week!

Glamour Poste

The ever so exciting Glamour Poste with a twist.
My entire life I have had a love for travel and to be truthful I believe it has more to do with the glamour of "jet setting" off to foreign places.
There's a beauty to me when someone takes care of themselves and the pieces they carry with them as they travel. Never one to wear jeans and a t-shirt in the first place, I admire the women (and men) who invest in a few extra minutes to get ready. Here are a few things that make me want to abandon my weekend plans for a fabulous getaway.

As of today I have reached my 100th post! In the blogging world I know this is not a feat and can realistically be made within 6 months. I, being a slow and inconsistent blogger, have taken my sweet little time but am happy regardless that I'm 100 entries in! I've been writing online since I was a sophomore in high school on a site called Xanga which my girlfriends and I were speaking about the other night. Oh the days of Xanga, before Myspace, Livejournal or even Facebook. I remember FB being a big deal as you had to be in college with a valid e-mail address in order to have access. Seemed like a special thing to attain when you weren't of age.
Needless to say I greatly enjoy writing about my life and of course reading about others. I am grateful to the world of blogs as my eyes have been opened to different ways of life, artists, bands, fashion, decor and cooking trends.
We are now 4 days into our Nashville summer. Having been bored over the weekend we left on Sunday evening following our fun day with Harrison (Adam's bff) and Jeanie. Each day has been packed with family activities and wonderful times with friends! Tuesday night I went out for Sushi and Sweet CeCe's as a girl's night out to catch up on the past 2 years. I can't believe it's been that long! I enjoyed so much our time and a roadtrip is even in the talks for later on. Love it!
Yesterday my mom, Amber (my brothers fiance') and I went to try on bridesmaids dresses- one after another we finally found the perfect one! Man what a process!
On a different front, both Adam and I have begun work and he is still on the lookout for an internship. Be in prayer that he finds a wonderful firm to intern for.
Leaving you to enjoy my day off with the most amazing man around!

What is it about the pairing of gray and orange that I find so appealing?

Well hello there friends,  I hope you've had a wonderful mid May week!
Yesterday was my last day of work at the PT clinic for the summer.
The other afternoon my boss asked me into his office for a talk to set in stone my coming back in the fall, saying how he thought I was a great worker and that they wanted me to continue working there. What? Yes! Woo hoo, they like me! They really really like me! On top of being promised a job after a 2 1/2 month hiatus he also bought breakfast for the entire office in honor of it being my last day. A co worker mentioned how that hasn't happened before. At least not for someone who was going to come back. I was and am so honored to work with such a fantastic team of people.
Who would have thought that this "random" job I got hired for would turn into something like this.
Now, do I want to be a physical therapist? No. Do I want to be a physical therapists assistant? No.
Would I like to even work in the medical field? No. But but but I couldn't be more grateful for the situation God placed me in. I never in a million years could have chosen this and that's why it has been the most pleasant surprise.
When I moved to Memphis I hardly knew people and was frankly scared it may never happen. With the kindness of the girl techs, I've grown close to them {Sarah and Nicol} and I must say my heart is lighter. Even the interns we've had over the past year have been wonderful, I'd like it say they are honest friendships.
Though I'm sad to not see those people every day for a couple of months I'm in need of a break...something to break up the monotony in our lives.
As the trip is nearing we have to get multiple things done with the house. Off I go!

Wednesday is already here, our home's favorite night of the work week.
For lunch today a few of my co workers, along with Adam and I, went to Moe's. Tomorrow is the last day for one of our interns, Leah, and Friday is my last day.  In honor of the good things about to come this summer for the two of us we celebrated by chowing down on mexican food.
I haven't mentioned it in any previous posts as I wasn't sure of many details; Adam and I will be taking a break from Memphis for the summer and will be in Nashville. We had initially planned on staying here but knew there were many more opportunities available to us elsewhere. In faith we trusted that God would provide for our finances regardless of rent and other bills due while away.
Out of the blue a friend offered to watch our home for the summer as well as help pay for utilities which helps immensely. Also the two of us have landed jobs that will supply enough income for our necessities while in Nashville and back in Memphis. Blessings Blessings Blessings.
There have undoubtedly been hitches yet we know God's plans are far great than we could imagine. This is a learning process for sure.
We'll leave Monday morning for our summer adventure and I must get to packing! Oh my word there are too many things we have to bring. Where will we find the space?
Have a lovely hump day, I'll talk to you soon!

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far! From what I hear it has been a pretty hectic weekend for lots of friends and family. So many friends from different parts of my life have graduated from college and I want to give a shout of CONGRATULATIONS to each and everyone of them. All of the hard work has paid off and you're finally free from projects, exams and papers. I admire all of you, sincerely.

We stayed relatively low key around our house with watching movies and taking advantage of the new starbucks happy hour. Yes you can even make your frappuccinos with soy! I was oddly ecstatic over have a milk choice.

After arriving home from church we met up at our friend Kevin's apartment to play poker with him, his roommate Falls and Mogy. First I must make note that I've only played poker once before this a few years ago and was, to say the least, rusty.
By some odd stroke of luck I took every one of those boys down in texas hold'em. I mean I even had a royal flush at one point! Holy moly, right?! We definitely had a lot of fun and I was happy to feel like I could fit in even though I was surrounded by only guys. Yes they quoted movies I've never heard of 95% of the time but it was okay, this here girl made it through with only a wee bit of a sun burn.
Today my beautiful most amazing mother arrived back from her trip to Guatemala safely on none other than Mother's Day. I couldn't wish or make up a more perfect woman to show me through life and teach me how to be a lady. She has been and will continue to be the most influential person in my life. I love you, Mamma!
My body is tired leading me to think it time for bed...maybe even a little reading!
Have a lovely nights rest.

Oh isn't it fantastic? Can't you smell it in the air? Can't you feel it?
What's fantastic is the immense amount of sleep I'll be getting tonight.
The smell is of the downy from my pillowcases which my head will lie heavy on.
And the feeling is my toes scrunching the sheets from the bottom of the bed. GLORIOUS SLEEP!
Today a patient replied to me very matter of fact after asking what I was looking forward to tomorrow,
"You know, women like to sleep a lot. My wife likes to sleep and so does my daughter."
Hmmm...how does one respond to a comment like that? I awkwardly moved on to another subject....like I'm about to do right about now.

In other news I have my husband back! In truth he never went away, of course, but his mind was elsewhere.
His mind was set on Criminal Procedure and Secured Transactions. A little Evidence and Civil Rights with a hefty dose of Commercial Paper. Yes it was finals week and my hot husband did nothing but study until 3 in the morning everyday. Being the wife of a law school student isn't easy, in fact sometimes it sucks. Most nights are spent with both of us on the couch but one with a pile of horn books and papers in their lap. That person would be Adam.
He always works to the best of his ability and tells me all the time he's doing this for our future. I know this. I know this. I know this! But sometimes I want him to work to the best of his ability at a game of scrabble with me. And now the time is here. Praise the Lamb for summer break!
Well I think my wish has come true, we're going to make dinner together and watch
the  end of Crazy Heart.
Have a good nights rest

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
I love when the days get longer and the sun doesn't go down until 8 or 9 at night. Even now it's almost six in the evening and it's gorgeous. I'm ashamed to say that I've spent little time outside today as it's so humid here in the south. The de-humidifier in our house can account for that, we change the bucket twice a day! Essentially we have a machine-esque type gadget in our house that sucks all of the water out and puts it in a container. Most people have a humidifier, but no, we Davis's like to make life interesting. Never did I think a house could be so muggy! Uck. Though we love our 1950's midtown duplex here in Memphis, we are so ready for something new. Something with insulation in the walls.
On to bigger and greener things, right?
As I scour blogs on a daily basis I, for some reason, had my eye drawn to the color green. In any and every shade I couldn't help but right click and save.

Everynight before bed I try to do a little reading. Some for my sanity, some to calm me down and some to make me feel like I'm apart of the literary world. Now I should try red lipstick.
Currently I'm reading the Janet Evanovich books focused on Stephanie Plum. I'm so hooked on this bountyhunter-ess that I'm giddy even now to hop in bed and crack open my little book.
Consistency is quite nice, huh?
Have a lovely nights sleep one and all.

What a crazy past week.
With finding out that my mom would be taking a sudden mission trip to Guatemala and hearing one of my bestest bestest friends in the world would be visiting I had no idea what else would come. The entire work week past by pretty quickly and I can't even remember anything special that happened. Here comes Friday! After cleaning all afternoon Holli arrived in Memphis since her first visit exactly 1 year ago that day. Funny, right? We went out for margaritas and munched on chocolate covered strawberries before all hitting the bed. In the middle of the night we hear sirens going off, tornado sirens. The weather was horrible. Llightning struck up and down our street multiple times accompanied by lots of thunder. Though the rain fell hard it wasn't more than we were used to except for the news we were hearing about Nashville. Never in a million years did we expect the flooding.

With paths of destruction left by mother nature I was and am deeply saddened to see what my lovely Franklin looks like. Watching the news I couldn't have been more shocked by the rising waters in places where there should never be 4 feet of rain. The cool springs mall is flooded and a kid is kyaking down Hillsboro road. What? Really? This can't be happening! My heart sank.
Luckily both mine and Adam's families are safe with their homes unharmed.  But as I mentioned earlier my mom took an impromptu trip to Guatemala with her church in Murfreesboro. They left the middle Tennessee area by 4 am. From what I know she, with her team, are in the dark about whats going on back home.  Pray for them as they help little children and care for those who are sick. Pray that their hearts will be soft but their faith unwavering. Pray for the families on the trip whose homes and belongings may be damaged from the storms who have no idea. She arrives on Sunday afternoon so I ask you please pray their flights are safe.

The rest of the weekend Holli and I spent shopping for bridesmaid dresses, reading books at Barnes and Noble, talking relationships, sipping on starbucks and even Costco! Weird how not so far away people were suffering while we piddled on with our time.
Holli's roommate Jennifer and her friend Carly ended up staying with us for a night as the roads were too blocked to drive back. Lovely girls who I had the pleasure to host were wonderful to get to know. I hope they enjoyed Memphis!
Here's  to a new week. A week where things can only go up.
