Life Lately

As I mentioned in my previous post, life lately has been busy and constantly changing. We made the decision about 6 weeks ago to move in with my in-laws for a few months to prioritize a few things such as saving up to purchase a home, a new couch, bed, washer/dryer, etc.  They were gracious enough to invite us in to stay for however long we would like. They live on a beautiful piece of property with a large porch and lush green grass. There are even a couple of too-darn-cute kitties by the names of Dot and Lillie that prance around quite a bit as well.

The transition thus far has been nice and it is a happy and quiet place to come home to after a long work day. We are so grateful for their generosity.

But let’s be honest, I’m a girl on a mission to save up as much money as possible so that we can start a new chapter in our lives.  There are hopes and prayers for babies and a place to call our own.  With that said, below is our life lately:

We have already arrived at another weekend. I hope yours is filled with lots of sun and summer experiences.

Moving Along

Hi all! I haven’t written one teensy post in over a month! May I say it has been quite a busy month!
I feel like there are so many things to update that I don’t know where to start. Luckily, I do have pictures to show.

At the very end of April, Adam found out that he would be starting as a partner at a firm in Columbia in two weeks from that time. He was and is elated to have a wonderful job opportunity offered to him. God so completely opened up the doors for the entire situation! Being that he would be working in Columbia, quite a way from where we currently live, we knew a move was in the works. Cue the scouring of craigslist and rent.com. Within a couple of weeks we finally found the cutest 2 bedroom 2.5 bath condo filled with light! Now on to buying a car…
While living in Memphis we shared a car and throughout the past year we have shared a car but it had finally gotten to the point where we could no longer “milk it”. You know how sweet it is to live without a car payment? It’s oh so sweet…but it was a necessity now. We looked at many different makes and models but settled on a reliable Hyundai. (Or as my father-in-law pronounces it, Hi-Un-Day)
The mechanics at Carmax, where we purchased the car, even stated that if they were in the market to buy a new car, they would by a Hyundai because of how well they are built. Score for us!

Okay…phew! Two major items on our list are taken care of: Home? Check! Car? Check!
Now we must pack and get rid of the old to make way for the new.
I am quite a fan of packing as it is one of the best forms of therapy for me. Give me a few hours and I will have accomplished a lot. Not much of a pack rat, I am not weary of throwing or giving away items or cleaning!

Washing out the refrigerator! You are very welcome to the intimate view of what we eat!
Our extra bedroom/Adam's office became our "just put it in there and we'll deal with it later" room. As you can see, we've masked that well....or maybe not so well.

A very sweet part of packing up your things is the time you get to spend reminiscing about old photos and little trinkets. Note the family portrait above circa 1989. My brother, Josh, was ever so ahead of the times with his bow tie. Killin' it since '87.
Can you see that I semi nipped that mess of a room in the bud? Believe me, it got much much worse...oh the joys of moving.
The packing continued as did the mess in our kitchen...we have been without "real plates" for what seems like ages.

He's a trooper! Wrapping up pictures for us and watching movies.
You might be wondering why I included a picture of a dumpster in the post. (Or maybe you're not, maybe you just chock it up to, "Well, that's Betsy". Actually that fine structure held a couple of handy boxes which now house books, pantry food and household items.
Moving day finally came and went. We tend to choose the best times of year to pack it up...you know, like, the hottest weekend of the year. It's a good thing our family loves us, otherwise we would have been up a creek without a paddle.

Once we found out about moving I high tailed it to the store for my long awaited label maker. Box of Xbox games? Labled. Quinoa in the pantry? You'll never have to wonder what it is again! What about that gray box in the closet? Oh that's Christmas decor, my friend...as stated by the label! I kind of went nuts. Judge me if you must.
No I am not a minimalist. That kitchen is empty, folks. Bare bones. Naked. Not even a spoon left stuck in a drawer...
So we have now moved out of our house but are sort of in a limbo. Our new condo won’t be available until June 1st thus we have rented a storage until for about 5 days and are currently staying with my parents.
The house is completely bare with only the task of spack'ling holes left to tackle this evening.
We are on to bigger and better things not to mention a newer AC unit. Praise the heavens.

Long time no see, right? I have been a little busy….please excuse my absence.
The week leading up to both graduations and the move were hectic and stressful. I was a mess and did not hesitate to show it. (I have since apologized to Adam for my random frantic outbursts.)
Congratulations to my brother, Josh, who graduated from MTSU with a degree in Music Business! I'm so proud of you Esh, I love you! He has worked very hard to get where he is today, I know he has a very big career ahead oh him. Josh Harvill will be a huge success…you read it here first!
 {Here is my dad, hubby and brother}

Followed by the ceremony was a fun grad party that his wife Amber threw for him. Decorations were so cute not to mention yummy food!
Sadly we couldn’t stay long because we had to head back to Memphis for Adam’s graduation the following day. In addition, a girl was going to buy our Washer/Dryer but ended up flaking out on us. Not cool Delia…or Celia…whatever your name was….not cool.

Sunday everyone arrived at our house to then chow down on good ole Memphis Bar-b-q at Central. It was Adam’s grandparents and Josh & Amber’s first time to eat there!
The graduation ceremony was quite exciting, I could not stop smiling at the amazing man I’m married to about to receive his J.D. What what! He’s just spectacular…maybe I’m a little biased!
{Everyone after the graduation}

Monday we spent moving all of our stuff. Every piece of our little life fit into just a couple of cars and a u-haul trailer.  It was a lot of work that helped us to decide we are getting movers from now on.
Seeing as I’ve spent too much time on the computer I’m going to spend the rest of the night on the couch watching movies.
I’ll talk to you soon, have a wonderful evening!

Oragnization & Life

The weather these past few days, or weeks rather, has been absolutely atrocious. Tornado warnings daily if not flash flood warnings as well. Our car has been giving us constant strife due to the rain and today I was stranded at the house waiting for our mechanic to help us out. This is the third time in two weeks that our car hasn't started and caused us to get it worked on. Not just jump started but full on take it to the shop or have it towed.
I'm looking forward to the days when we have a vehicle that isn't as worn as this one. God will provide.
{Side note: We are thankful that both of us are healthy and safe. Our families are in good health, love us, not to mention we are blessed in so many other areas of life. This car thing is just an inconvenience.}

With that said, some might think that if you have no choice but to be at home your only option is to be productive. Most days that would be the case but when it is gloomy all day my energy plummets.
I was able to pack up most of our kitchen with just a few, and I mean few, items left to use.
Our guest room has become even more filled with boxes since I posted that photo over the weekend.
Infact we have a house guest tonight...Kevin! He lives over on the island and was told that due to the heavy rain fall it may flood so he's camping out in our "moving room".  I know Adam enjoys him being here...they're watching Conan during their study break right now. Cackles are coming from the living room as I type.

The reason why I wanted to write this blog in the first place was to express my obsession with organization.
In the midst of this move our house seems to be anything but as most of our things are packed up.
When I see pictures on blogs of how their closets are kept and magazines are filed I am filled with excitement to bring order back to our home. Granted it will be a couple of weeks but the fire's a burnin' within me!

Lately I've read a book called "The EveryGirl's Guide to Life" by Maria Menounos which has jump started this desire to organize my life. Such an easy read with helpful tools and wonderful information, you're sure to find a way to improve something!

It's time for bed so I'll talk to you soon,

Good morning one and all!

It is a beautiful Saturday and I am sitting at a local coffee shop, Republic trying to catch up on things while hubby takes his first final of the semester. He graduates one week from tomorrow!
I'll post later with more info on all of the things that have been going on in our lives but wanted a quick update for now.
I promise that we're still living even though I took a break from blogging.
My parents visited almost a month ago and since they left I have been packing up our house.
At first I made a list of the rooms/ tasks I needed to tackle before any others and successfully did so!
Our guest room went from this:
To this:

I now call it our moving room. Believe it or not I have an entire system that is color coated.
This is going to be the smoothest move ever, dadgummit!
Between the two of us, we have collectively moved 20+ times. We have become pros at purging items every few months which has since made it easier to pack. With the next week off of work to do nothing but pack I hope to have a few free moments to blog.

I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday full of relaxation and productivity!
Talk to you soon,

Xoxo .bd

Wednesday is already here, our home's favorite night of the work week.
For lunch today a few of my co workers, along with Adam and I, went to Moe's. Tomorrow is the last day for one of our interns, Leah, and Friday is my last day.  In honor of the good things about to come this summer for the two of us we celebrated by chowing down on mexican food.
I haven't mentioned it in any previous posts as I wasn't sure of many details; Adam and I will be taking a break from Memphis for the summer and will be in Nashville. We had initially planned on staying here but knew there were many more opportunities available to us elsewhere. In faith we trusted that God would provide for our finances regardless of rent and other bills due while away.
Out of the blue a friend offered to watch our home for the summer as well as help pay for utilities which helps immensely. Also the two of us have landed jobs that will supply enough income for our necessities while in Nashville and back in Memphis. Blessings Blessings Blessings.
There have undoubtedly been hitches yet we know God's plans are far great than we could imagine. This is a learning process for sure.
We'll leave Monday morning for our summer adventure and I must get to packing! Oh my word there are too many things we have to bring. Where will we find the space?
Have a lovely hump day, I'll talk to you soon!
xoxo .bd
