Making Mountains Out of Mapquest

What can I say, we're up pretty darn early for this here trip. Coffee is a necessity...as is music and a cozy place to lay your head while that husband of yours is driving.
Here's to many miles and beautiful mountains ahead of us!
I'll talk to you soon,

Packing Pretty

It's roadtrip time! One of my ever so lovely friends, Nikki, will be getting hitched this weekend and us two Davis's, including Papa, will be driving to North Carolina.
My dress has been hemmed and taken in, I've purchased the cutest earrings and my bags are packed! We'll leave bright and early tomorrow morning and won't come back until Sunday. After having looked at the weather, I am so excited to say that it will be in the 60's.
Thank goodness I packed my leather jacket, blazer and scarves- thank goodness!
North Carolina in the fall is magical, pure greatness. When you first drive east through Knoxville and cross over the state line you must listen to Explosions in the Sky; specifically 'First Breath After Coma'. Amazing-ness!
By the way, has anyone noticed how quickly these days are ending? I've noticed more then ever how the sun starts to go down at 5...it's getting colder and that's my tell tale sign.
Alright, I'm going to spend some time with the family watching our Wednesday night shows.
Enjoy the rest of your hump day!

Leipers & Loveless

As promised, I wanted to share with you our day spent with the family.
Everyone, being my parents and Papa and us two handsome Davis's, drove to a town called Leiper's Fork for the morning. Leiper's isn't a very big city whatsoever, in fact I'm sure you'd miss it if you weren't paying much attention. It is known for Puckett's Grocery and also where Naomi and Wynona Judd live. {Did you catch The Judd's on OWN? I sure did!}
Also in the small town is a restaurant, formerly a motel, The Loveless Cafe. Famous for their biscuits (and for darn good reason) they are typically no less than an hours wait to sit down. Some people claim it is no different than Cracker Barrell, but it is about the experience and the history! If you are ever in the Nashville area and want some good southern breakfast, check them out and come early so you can get a taste of that amazing blackberry jelly they make.

Along either side of the restaurant are shops special to the cafe where you can browse everything from pottery and antiques to ham or bicycles. It's really just a fun place to go, especially in the fall!

Followed by our breakfast was the actual town of Leiper's Fork. There is a small strip of shops with restaurants, antique shops, local artists galleries and the ever so special, Yeoman's.
My husband, being the Civil War history buff and fanatic that he is was enthralled by their inventory. They sell mainly rare books, namely first editions and war documents.Out of respect of the store I chose not to take pictures. But my grandfather was able to hang out with one of his old school buddies, Ben Franklin. Oh the stories they told us!

We had a great morning followed by a trip to Nordstrom's which just opened here in Nashville. Where have you been my whole life? High end beauty and fashion at your fingertips is always a bonus!

I hope your weekend was filled with fun and exciting activities, here's to another productive week...

A side note about yours truly, yes me.  The last time I went to Loveless, in September 2008,  I was with a bunch of girlfriends for a Sunday brunch we held every month. Each time we would pick a different restaurant to try out and that particular time we visited Loveless, The Travel Channel was filming a breakfast show. Lo-and-behold our table was asked to be interviewed. You can catch me every once in a while at roughly 2am on Breakfast Paradise. I say the ever so interesting, "It's just good food!" which I'm sure hooks every last person who watches that episode! DVR it, I dare you :)

Blogerista

At work I have been given the task to handle all social media and am daily on facebook, twitter and our company's blog making updates and posts on the regular.
I think it's funny how God works in our lives as I've been a blogger since I was 14 and haven't stopped since. Finally a job that gives me the ability to use this knowledge I've gained over the past 9.5 years and put it to some use!

With the constant updating I have to do at work I gain more excitement to keep up with my own blogging. Consistency is the key, though, isn't it?! I need to work on that. {Note to self: Work on it.} K, good.

Today I went out with all of my co-workers to a recent Nashville favorite, Taco Mamacita's. The boss let all of us leave a little early to grab a table and treat us to drinks! Thank you, Linas, for being so kind...and thank you for the blueberry margarita! So yummy! Adam was able to attend as well and hang out with these people I share every day with, I think he fit in perfectly!

Alright so I'm off to bed, it's 2AM and we're at my parents house for the night to spend all of tomorrow {Actually today} getting breakfast, browsing through shops and seeing where Merriweather Lewis died.
I will be taking pictures and hope to post them soon!

I hope you have a fantastic start to the weekend and first day of fall!

Tall Decaf Capuccino

If I had one little wish right now it would be that fall could come even more quickly.
There is a small tree by the corner of our building at work that has begun to lose its leaves.
Lisa, one of the girls I work with, (whom I have grown to love so much) and I both squealed today when we saw those wispy and frail orange pieces fall to the ground. Okay, okay, I know it's still September but if only the weather were at least 20 degrees cooler...

Autumn is by far my favorite season of the year and I am at my best when I get to layer as much as possible.
Have you ever seen 'You've Got Mail'? I'm sure you have...well having watched that movie 730,492,581 times it never fails to make me want New York in the fall.

I want fall festivals, early trips to Starbucks on the way to work and a  bouquet of newly sharpened pencils.
Have a beautiful Wednesday, one and all two of you who probably read this blog...
Mamma, this ones for you! Can we watch this together, soon?

Flawless Fall

Is it just me or does Drew Barrymore look like she is in her prime.
The ad campaign for Neiman Marcus is flawless fall material and I want nothing but jewel tones- not to mention I want to die my hair that very shade of red.

Love love love everything.

I hope you're just as inspired as I am...I'll talk to you soon,

Organized Mess

Do you ever find that you go through stages of "blah"?
With our house for the past month or so I have gone through this stage.

Our marriage is fantastic, my job is great, family life couldn't be better, but alas our home is not. By that I mean I lost all inspiration to whip through the house to clean or organize. Maybe there are clothes in a pile on the floor that I looked at today, thought to fold and walked away to get ready. So maybe shamefully there's a "catch-all" closet beneath the stairs and maybe obviously there's an extra room being underutilized.  We have so many wonderful spaces to work with, but my lazy bum hasn't set aside a Saturday to kick things into shape.

Lately, my obsession with Pinterest has been in full blown overdrive. I am daily shown lovely homes and easy how-to's, not to mention fabulous clothes, makeup and hair inspirations. But that's besides this post's point. The point is because of Pinterest and a lady's organizing blog, iheartorganizing, I am filled with organized desire. Inspiration beckons! And now any street cred I may have had as a 23 year old is shot. I'm not that cool and I like to keep clean.
As fall approaches I am eager to bring about change in our home. Hopefully this coming week I will keep to my mental check list of things I need to tackle.

         ::Go through all crap
         ::Clean
::Sift through Adam's law school books/items
::Figure out where to put Christmas/Holiday Decor

My list could go on as I think of all the tasks but I will spare myself (& you) and just do what I can.
With that said, I'm going to spend some time with my Mom and grandfather as we're spending the night at my parents house. Have a wonderful night!
I'll talk to you soon,
xoxo .bd

Fashion Favorite

If you know me well at all, you know that lately I have had an obsession with YouTube videos. Undoubtedly my guilty pleasure, I admit!
Rarely do I watch music videos or bloopers, mostly beauty and fashion ones.
In the past few months I discovered this girl, well woman actually, who takes the #1 slot on my "first watch" list. I promise I'm not creepy.
Her name is Alex, a southern California resident, she has a jewelery line which she runs out of her apartment and has impeccable style sense. I read her blog daily and am never without inspiration.

Not only does she post her latest beauty finds, but also home decor, yummy food options and a Chanel collection to drool over.

Below is a video that she just posted and she states exactly how I feel about a T-shirt and jeans. Simply stated, it takes the same amount of time to throw on a silk blouse as it does a cotton T. Amen! This girl knows my heart!
All of that to say, check out the video and subscribe to her channel!

I hope your past couple of weeks have been fantastic. Sorry I've been MIA, life has been hectic!
Talk to you soon,
 xoxo .bd
