Happy Monday {Holiday Style}

Happy Monday, friends!
With only two days until Christmas our household is putting all of the final touches on our presents and are ready for time with family. I know I sound like a broken record player but I can't help it, I'm still surprised that December is almost over and Christmas is about to happen in 5 minutes. I mean, what happened to 2013?

Can I be honest with you? Most Sunday nights I tend to get the "blues" because I realize that the work week starts up in only a few hours- like  full force Monday traffic craziness- but hallelujah because today was a half day. I literally leapt out of bed this morning to get ready. The power of knowing I only had to work 3 hours today sent surges of glee throughout my body.

I hope today has found you well and rested and ready for a fun week with family and friends.

I'll talk to you soon

The Gent's Gift Guide

Whether you have got a techie, a beer enthusiast or a dapper gent to buy for this holiday season, I have put together a list of ideas all of which range from $6 to $125.

I always try to purchase items for someone that I think they would enjoy but also something that may not have thought of purchasing for themselves.

Please do take into account that if someone asks for something specifically and it is in your budget, get them what they ask for. They will be happy with the gift and you can know, without a doubt, that it is something they like and will use. It’s a win-win!

If you have a few extra dollars to spend, try these options as well:

Driftwood iDock 5 // $100
The Mantry  //$75
Waxwear Tablet Pocket // $95

I hope this helps with giving you some ideas on what to get for that special guy in your life.

A few of my favorite things...

I took a teensy month long hiatus from blogging to get a little inspiration. I apologize for the lack of posts if you wanted a wee update on my life.
Today I thought I would share a few of my favorite things as of late. {Go ahead, keep singing those lines in your head} I am constantly on Tumblr and Pinterest  reblogging/ pinning lots of beautiful pictures. This is just a small compilation of what I have loved this week. Maybe this will be a weekly post? Yeah? K, sounds good…let’s  get started:
Ginnifer Goodwin:
An absolutely stunning candid photo of her, don't you think? For a hot minute the hubby and I were enthralled in "Once Upon A Time" where Ms. Goodwin plays Snow White...well sort of.
If I could pull of such a cute and classic pixie like her, I would in a heartbeat.

Frenchies:
Lately all my husband seems to talk about is how much he would love a french bull dog or as I like to call them, frenchies. At a whopping $2500 I don't believe we are in such a position to purchase one like the cutie above but maybe someday.

Eloise:
What a splendid life she leads as a little girl who lives in the Plaza Hotel in New York City whilst getting into mischief.
I have been on quite the hunt for "Eloise at Christmastime" but have only been able to find it online. Though it may be a kids movie, I like it ever so much!

...and while we are on the topic of Christmas {my favorite holiday and time of year, mind you} I found this adorable Christmas card! Last night I bought a box that I hope to fill out and mail by Saturday. I have the best of intentions when it comes to mailing our Christmas cards but for the last two years they have yet to be sent out. Cross your fingers :)
So those are a few of my favorite things...or four to be specific.

I hope that you had a wonderful month of November filled with leaves, pumpkins, cooler weather and a filling Thanksgiving. I will talk to you soon!

Vlogmas: Day 14 {Sushi and Dirty Santa}

Hello Hello!
With the muck and rain of this morning I am thinking fondly of our warm sunny weather yesterday.
We're so close to Christmas and yet it was 70 degrees out.
If you have ever lived in the Tennessee area you are familiar with the schizophrenic way our temperatures act out. Last year around this time we had a day where its high was 80 and then a week later we had a "snow storm" with 6-8 inches. Craziness. You'll hear all about it in my vlog, so let's go ahead and get into it!

There is so much to prepare for this weekend, we have family and two sets of friends coming into town. With cleaning the house, grocery shopping and Christmas shopping I am sure to be exhausted by Monday.

Have a lovely day, I'll see you tomorrow!

Vlogmas: Day 13

Happy beautiful Wednesday, I hope yesterday was wonderful for you!
After working all day I came home to find that I received my first VoxBox by Influenster in the mail.
I filmed a video on what Influenster and VoxBox are about which I will share with you soon. For now I wanted to post Vlogmas Day 13.
I promise to be back shortly with more information and happenings. Have a lovely day, talk to you soon!

Vlogmas: Day 8

TGIF. Yes.
Not only is it Friday but it is also casual day at work meaning leggings and not as super high heels as normal. My poor feet....they go through so much.
Tonight we're going out with my parents, Josh and Amber to The Opryland Hotel to see the Christmas lights! My parents haven't been back in 10 years so I know it will be fun to visit with them and take many pictures. Without a doubt you'll be able to see it all on tomorrow's episode of Vlogmas...and tomorrow holds many fun activities as well. Gosh I love Christmastime!
Let's get this show on the road and begin this beautiful weekend ahead of us.

Have a lovely day, I'll talk to you tomorrow!

Vlogmas: Day 5 {Hamper Proof}

Good morning good morning good morning, it's time to rise and shine!
I have another episode of Vlogmas for you with a funny ending...at least I think so. It is proof of something that has been talked about for a while but now you can see it with your own eyes.
As yesterday's weather stopped me from taking care of a couple of things I needed to do, I'm hoping the rain will clear out for at least a few hours after work for some errands.

It's time for more Christmas shopping which I would like to take care of tonight as well. We'll see what happens.
Have a lovely day, I'll see you tomorrow!

Vlogmas: Day 3

Happy weekend one and all, I hope that you had a spectacular Saturday and are now enjoying your Sunday!
While I hung out with my friend Lisa to shop for clothes and Adam watching football, our car was getting fixed. If you have known me for any length of time you will know that my cars have always had something wrong with them. We are no strangers to mechanics and our record is a mile long with all of the different things we have had to fix. One day I will drive a nice car that rarely breaks down....one day.
Without a shadow of a doubt I know that everything happens for a reason and am thankful that
God believes I can handle such moments in life. Stressful, humbling, frustrating, bank breaking moments that we have always gotten through.

Today is a new day with amazing family time that we will get to spend with my parents and grandfather. Blessings all around us!!!

Take care, I will be back tomorrow for more Vlogmas!

Vlogmas: Day 2

Welcome to the second day of vlogmas...
As I said in yesterday's post, I will be vlogging everyday until Christmas.
Normally I would talk about all that we did but to be honest, the video speaks for itself. Literally and figuratively.
Here's a look at our lovely little life...

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Hello again, friends!
As long weekends away would have it, there was much to do when we got home.
Last night neither of us got much sleep ; hubs stayed up playing with his new Xbox and I watched numerous videos on Youtube. I’m beyond interesting, can’t you tell!
With us fighting the urge to take a 3 hour nap in the middle of the day, we ran some errands and made it back to our little home for the yummiest dinner, made by hubs himself! To die…so good.
Oh and something really cool as well, Adam received the limited edition Birchbox Man in the mail and has now used the shampoo, moisturizer and a few other things. For what the box is actually worth, you get so many cool items and high-end products. Kudos to BB, you guys and gals hit it out of the park!
Here are a few snapshots of our evening:

I would like to say that our life has exciting events with parties to attend  and people to meet but lately, it has been more or less laundry, home tasks and work…as you can see. Someday soon :)

After devouring our meal we watched all of the behind-the-scences from Super 8 (It’s a must see if you haven’t already) and put up the tree.
I’m really glad to have one more day off so that all of the other necessary tidbits I have to take care of will be done by Monday.
Have a splendid nights sleep, I'll talk to you soon.

Getting Crafty

Let me begin by saying that I love Christmas. Love. Love. Love.
When the season draws near and the weather turns cold, I revert to holiday mode.
If I'm being honest with you, I will tell you that I have been watching Christmas movies non stop. In fact I had a "for shame, Betsy!" moment when I realized I had never actually watched Miracle On 34th Street, the Mara Wilson version or the old one.

Want to know a fun fact? Miracle on 34th Street came out the year after "It's a Wonderful Life". At the time, It's a Wonderful Life bombed at the theaters which made everyone else making a holiday movie weary. In July of 1947 they released Miracle on 34th Street because they thought it wouldn't do so well. Little did they know it would become a classic as did It's A Wonderful Life.
Who would have ever thought that those movies would disappoint anyone?

All of that to say, I enjoyed so very much the newer version that I want to watch it every night before bed. That's right, it's like I'm 5.
So on to being crafty. As I mentioned above, I love Christmas and I love to decorate. It's one thing to live with your family and always use what your mom picks out but it's another thing if you are on your own.
Over the last couple of years that we've been married I have gathered a few things here and there. Garlands, ornaments, a little tree, lights and nick-knacks were pretty much all we had. Nothing too fancy. But this year I decided to take my time. I even came up with a theme, Vintage French Christmas.
Etsy has proven to be a great source of inspiration, especially one shop, The French Nest Co.

I wanted to amp up our decor without having to amp up the budget and I also wanted to look around my home and say, "I made that!".
With a fire lit beneath me I headed to Hobby Lobby today after work and searched for an hour to find my first couple of projects. Let's just say I bought four bottles of glitter, clothes pins, blank canvas ornaments (cardboard and glass) so that I can get crafty up in their business and a few other items.
I'm pumped and am ready to put things together. My mission is to even make our own Christmas cards. We'll see where that one actually takes us.

Tomorrow I will hopefully post my Birchbox video of all my November items...stay tuned and I'll talk to you soon!

Well hello and a Happy New Year to you!
Can you believe we're already in 2011? The past year has flown by and I'm not sure where it went.
Our New Year's Eve was fun as we spent it with our closest Memphis friends at our friend Zack's house.
We played Catch Phrase for at least 3 hours, if not 4, and had a blast. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time which makes me think what better way to ring in 2011 but with laughter.
Now before I get ahead of myself I wanted to post a few pictures of our Christmas. For some reason I didn't take but one  picture of my family's celebrations though I did get some from Adam's side. (If my mom has some posted soonish I'll steal them from her and post them on mine :) )

As far as I can recall I don't believe I've ever had a white Christmas...maybe once? To my utter delight and sheer excitement we woke up that morning with glorious snow falling all around us! Not only did it snow on the 25th but it continued to snow the entire following day.
Above is my parent's home with the pretty dusting of snow and below is the most handsome man I know clearing off the car as I sit cozily inside. Thank you, love!
And another photo of this hunk of burnin' love. Oh my word he's gonna kill me if he sees this!

Here is the Davis side of things, they have blessed me immensely...they raised the man I love!
Above is Joe, my father-in-law, fixing the new suit they bought for Adam tailor fit and all as his 25th birthday present. Below is my mother-in-law Barbara and her mother JoAnne who we affectionately call Mamaw!

Our time spent for those few days was wonderful not to mention the numerous gifts we received were amazing! I received lots of gorgeous clothes, makeup, jewelery, gift cards, money and one kick butt food processor! Adam got a gift which has seemingly taken over our lives....but in a good way....the Kindle. Oh yes he's read 4 or 5 books in just over a week. That e-reader goes with us everywhere but it's nice because he bought me a book and the scrabble application :).

I apologize for the lack of updates but it's a new year! Another to follow verrrry soon.

It is Christmas Eve and the Davis's and Harvill's are busy with activities! All of our Christmas shopping is done and every present is wrapped. I feel accomplished!
My work was nice enough to close Thursday and Friday to give us all a break including a full days pay! What a blessing to rest and spend time with everyone I love.
This morning we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel the first of many festivities for the day and now we're off to lunch with Adam's family. I don't doubt that we'll all gain a few pounds by the weekend.
Tonight will be Christmas with the Davis's followed by a special dinner then back to my parents home.
For my brother Josh and his wife Amber they are celebrating  their first Christmas as a married couple with us and to top it off our Papa is in town! If ever you get to meet my Papa Harvill you will be blessed beyond belief.
Okay I've got to head out the door but I should be posting photos of our holiday either tonight or tomorrow.
Have a lovely Christmas Eve...

{Oooops I forgot to post the final product of our newest tradition, making a gingerbread house.}

:The icing falling from the roof are supposed to be icicles, of course, not a melting gingerbread wonderland:

{And a  couple more...}

A Fine Feathered Frenzy

As of lately I've had quite an obsession with feathers and fur.
I did a post a couple of weeks ago featuring beautiful clothing and home decor with fur but have since found so many more beautiful pieces! Today I'll be featuring only feathers, lovely lovely, feathers.
It's a cold day in Memphis and so the two of us are headed to the mall for some Christmas shopping.
