Happy Anniversary!

My, oh my how three years have flown by! I am married to the love of my life, the man of my dreams and my best friend.
We have been through good times and bad, richer and poorer, sickness and health (and the bar).
Shall I name a few? Supporting ourselves in a city far from family, making pizza, scouting out the best donut joints in town, watching movies, dancing through the house, overcoming multiple car troubles and having only one car, a long bout with the flu, finals, the train that went by our home at all hours of the night, Disneyland, planes flying overhead at all hours of the night, surviving southern “snow storms”, using vanilla soy milk instead of regular…in a spinach cream sauce (yuck), putting up Christmas trees, running out of the shower, coffee runs, moldy books, coming up with our own language, obsessing over tv shows, graduating law school, scrubbing the floors of a prison (don’t worry, he was a part of a cleaning crew! They left at the end of the day), carving pumpkins, killing spiders and roaches, making gingerbread houses, walking around our neighborhood for hours just to talk, burning pizza, worrying over money, getting jobs, moving back to Nashville, passing the bar, dog sitting, road trips, food poisoning, GEAUX TIGERS, making fires, Central Bar-b-q, falling asleep next to each other every night, saying I love you after every conversation, praying and worshipping together, carving pumpkins,  making the bed, birthday surprises, thousands of kisses….the list for go on for at least another 10 pages.
This man makes me feel like I can conquer the world! But I’m pretty sure that he hangs the moon every night so we are even, right?
Here’s to many, many, many more years of being with my favorite person in the world. I am blessed beyond belief that I found him so early on in my life. I cannot wait to have and raise children with him.
I love you my love! Happy 3rd Anniversary!

Lovely Little Weekend Recap

Hello one and all (of the two of you)!
I hope you had a great late July weekend and Monday! Can you believe how quickly this month has passed? In a mere 2 days Adam and I will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary. Talk about time flying by. In a sense I feel like it was just last week that we tied the knot and in another I feel like it was 10 years ago. In a good way, of course :)

I wanted to share some photos I took throughout our weekend and again, I’m giving all of my pictorial documentation credit to Instagram and my iPhone. If it weren’t for those two helpers I might rarely take a picture of our day to day life.
Friday evening we went to Mellow Mushroom for pizza with my favorite Holli, her hubby-to-be Justin and lovely sister, Anne. By the time our pizza arrived at the table we all became silent ravenous folk. I love spending time with them; I always laugh really hard and come away with a smile. They will be getting married in just under 100 days per their calculation. So exciting!
Saturday I spent with my mom scouting out décor for my sister-in-law’s baby shower. Yay for baby Harvill on the way! We addressed envelopes and walked up and down the aisles of Hobby Lobby. You best give me at least an hour if I walk in there. It’s a dream land I tell ya. Pure crafty discounted bliss.  Tonight I will be cutting burlap and painting J I’ll try to utilize my iPhone again for your viewing pleasure. While I was ogling over fabric swatches, the hubby was playing golf with his boss. Golf by the way is his new found love. Obsession, if you will. He went Saturday and yesterday!

We spent the better part of our evening catching up on Revenge. I know. Don’t get me started. We spent hours watching episode after dramatic episode.  Not sure if I’ve mentioned it but we recently went cable-less. No satellite for us Davis’s so we have succumb to Netflix and Hulu for our nightly television.
Sunday we slept in past church (due to excessive Revenge…shame…for shame!) and decided to utilize the rest of our time by running errands and cleaning house.  I made our current favorite, Roasted Lime Basil Salmon for dinner and we of course finished the rest of Revenge. If you watched the show, including the finale, you know how anxious we are to see the second season. We may have even googled when it premieres because we can't wait. We may have? We totally did.
Also, I did try out the SNBR (Sunday Night Beauty Routine) with success! I soaked my feet in our at home foot bath and painted my nails!

Early on in the evening I made some chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. For some reason, since we went to Disneyland and I had a chocolate covered banana for a snack, I've been hooked! I feel like I'm eating an ice cream treat without the guilt! Yumm.
Tonight Adam's bff Harrison will be in town so I should make sure his room is taken care of.
I hope that you have a lovely Tuesday!
I’ll talk to you soon

SNBR

As you may know I am a self professed beauty addict. If I could spend all day applying body butters, testing the latest eye shadows and hair serums- by golly- I'd be one happy girl!
Last night after an indulgent meal I felt like my skin wouldn't like me in the morning and I don't think my ankles would either. I applied a Juice Beauty Apple Peel for 15 minutes and voila, I felt so much better!
This morning I was browsing Pinterest and notice an article Birchbox wrote titled 'Sunday Night Beauty Ritual' thus SNBR. They asked multiple beauty writers and staffers on whether or not they had SNBR's and what they did.
Dedicating one night a week to pamper myself especially the night before you go back to the usual weekly grind seems like a great idea to me. I'm sure I'll be a much happier person after I've had time to myself.
With that said, here's the article: Birchbox

Here's to the man...

Today is my daddy’s birthday and I wanted to dote on him a little:

Here’s to the man who taught me what good music really is
Here’s to the man who always told me I was beautiful
Here’s to the man who instilled in me the love for travel
Here’s to the man who held me until I fell asleep even though I fought him tooth and nail
Here’s to the man who showed me the magic of Disney
Here’s to the man who first showed me what true love and respect was by loving my mom first
Here’s to the man who encouraged me to do what I loved no matter what
Here’s to the best father a little girl could have-
I love you Daddy, Happy Birthday!!

See that handsome guy in the striped poncho wrangling that horse? Yeah, that's my dad!
No he wasn't a Hatfield or McCoy, just in case you were wondering :)

To be french

I have, for many many years, had a love for Paris and the french lifestyle. I made sure that when I was to take a language in high school that it must be french. I was not going to learn Spanish, it had to be french. I knew that when I visited someday I should be fluent. I have lost most of my knowledge but plan to visit as soon as I can.
I was looking over a blog I read often and on Sunday I came across this video they made of Daphne. Just listen to her, she speaks so softly and so sweetly. It is watching little videos like this that make me think the grass must be greener in the french country side!

C'est fini.

The Morning Light

Happy Monday!
I can’t believe this weekend has already come and gone. Lately I have tried to be in the moment to savor the two mornings when we can sleep in because the time flies by so quickly.
This past week I mentioned to Adam how I miss being able to see the morning light in our home. On a typical day at this blissful time I have already left for work but yesterday I made it a point to take a few photos of my Sunday morning.
As I came downstairs, our kitchen table already had that beautiful morning sun I’m talking about...the whole dining area began to warm up. Can you see what I mean?
For today's post I wanted to share a little "Sunday morning in the life of Betsy" with you:

First things first: Coffee.
I heat up my water and mix the espresso into the coffee press. Set aside for amazingness to percolate…literally.

After 15-20 minutes I pour over a large cup of ice and add milk.
Time to prep for breakfast:
1.Pop french toast into toaster (Cause I'm classy like that)
2.Wash and Rinse Strawberries
3. Make syrup, pour juice, place on plate and enjoy!
I hope this week goes so very well for you!
Talk to you soon, xoxo

A Summer's Saturday

I love Saturday's. Let's just get this straight, I love rest, relaxation and the opportunity to get tasks taken care of. My weekends as of late have been filled with running errands and putting my life back in order from the week.  Last weekend we had done so much by 3 in the afternoon we crashed by about 6 in the evening! I'm not sure if that's lame but I will surely own it!
Yesterday was just as productive and relaxing so I'm giving myself a high-five. *Smack*
I woke up with the need to clean and pick up our home. By Friday night there are dishes in the sink from dinner, shoes scattered by the front door, trash to be taken out, a pile of clothes to be washed {not to mention the sheets and towels as well} and carpets screaming to be vacuumed. Okay, maybe not screaming but you catch my drift.

We cleaned and cleaned {Hallelujah} then headed out to East Nashville for a Birthday lunch with friends!
If you aren't from the Tennessee area you may not be familiar but East Nashville is a very cool place to be..its where the creative, young and hip converge.
Our friend Zack turns 30 on Monday so a bunch of people gathered at Rose Pepper for mexican food! I had heard so much about RP and finally got a chance to check it out. I highly recommend the Rose Pepper Rings and the Taco Salad...so good and affordable :) I even spied one of my blogger favorites, Coury Combs of Fancy Treehouse as we were leaving!
After lunch we grabbed some ice cream next door at Jeni's {Salted Carmel and Coffee} then and iced coffee at Ugly Mugs. This brutal heat calls for anything iced!
We walked around the Green Hills mall for a bit then grabbed some groceries at our most favorite Trader Joe's. With our move to Spring Hill, we are much farther from Nashville and haven't been able to go as often. Oh how I miss thee!

Today has been just as sweet and I will post photos of the day soon :)
Happy Sunday! xoxo bd

Norah Charlotte

With a little one on the way for my brother and his lovely wife, planning has begun! Along with my mom and a couple of other ladies we are putting ideas together for this little lady.
Above is a mood board I've put together to keep a few ideas in order.
I hope your 4th was filled with bar-b-q, fireworks and fun!
