A Warm Get Together

It is 4 days to halloween and tonight I have a fun fall dinner planned with my family!
Has this month flown by or what?!
We do very little entertaining but find that the colder it gets, the more we want to have people over.
Last year we held a party with all of our friends and even had some spiked cider; so good!

As we have finally settled into our home we are having my parents and grandfather over for some Shrimp Etoufee, a Davis family favorite!

Today the weather has been gray and cold so I think a warm soup will make the night even better.
Hopefully I can document the night ahead of us and share it with you soon.

Have a lovely evening!

Bonfires and Cider

Our weekend was filled with classic Autumnal favorites like bonfires, apple cider and cozy blankets as we went over to an old family friend’s home for their annual bonfire get together. It was so nice to be with people I hadn’t seen in years and catch up while sipping on hardcore cider and warming our hands by the fire.

Saturday was busy from morning to night with Adam spending time with his law school friend Zack and myself with my good friend Lisa! While the boys were having lunch and talking football us girls were all about Nashville trying to find the perfect dress for Lisa's brothers wedding in Tahoe this December. You would think with the many stores we have at our fingertips that something would be amazing but 6 hours later and 30 dresses back on the racks, there was nothing. Both of us were worn out from the shopping and ended the night by trying and failing to craft. Exhausted, I fell asleep watching my current obsession, Pan Am.

Sunday was surely relaxed as we went to a new church we've been visiting and doing Mexican with my parents for lunch! Every Sunday we make it a point to spend time with them to catch up on each of our lives.
Did I mention I made them watch my above mentioned obsession, Pan Am? Yes, of course I did! Now I realize I must do a little post to coerce you all to catch up with the episodes on Hulu.

It is Beverly Hills Housewives time so I must bid you a bientot!
Here's to a classic autumnal week... xoxo bd

A Rainy Day

Hello Friends! I hope this Wednesday is finding you well and that you have had a fantastic week thus far!

If you live in the Nashville area you know how cold it was today. Dreary gray skies with misty rain all day. I personally love when the weather is cold and gray, I feel I could do quite well in Seattle or London. Were I given the choice between winter or summer I would choose winter every time; I just like to be bundled up!
Last night our friends from out of town, Harrison and Jeanie, came through Nashville and stopped by to hang out for a bit. Harrison currently lives in DC and flew into Memphis to be with Jeanie where she currently lives for a quick vacay. Lucky for us they are trekking across the state to meet up with everyone they haven’t seen in a while! Harrison and Adam were best buddies from undergrad at UT Knoxville and their love has yet to fade. Let’s just say when they talk about politics, foreign affairs or robot chicken, both Jeannie and I tune out. Can you blame us? It was nice to spend time with them and chat for a bit, hopefully we’ll  get to see them on their way back through before Harrison flies back out.
Time to wrap myself in a blanket and watch our favorite Wednesday night shows. Have you seen Revenge? We're absolutely obsessed...not sure if it will be more than a mini series though. Regardless, I'm excited for tonight's episode.
Tomorrow I will have my October Birchbox video up to share about all of the lovely products I received and I will also be sharing my reviews after having tried them.
I’ll talk to you soon,
Xoxo bd

The Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weekends ago, after our trip to NC, we went to the Pumpkin Patch with my in-laws.
Here are a few pictures from our time!

This pumpkin patch is located near the downtown Franklin area and is called Gentry Farm. If you are ever in the area during the month of October, I suggest you go down there and pick a pumpkin..there are also hay rides and games for kids as well. So much fun!
I am happy to report, after having looked at the 5 day forecast, that our weather is finally letting up! I am so ready for the crisp air we all dream of Autumn bringing in.

Have a beautiful fall day, I'll talk to you soon!

Roadtripping to North Carolina

As promised, I wanted to share with you a few photos and a short video of our time last weekend in North Carolina.
One of my great friends, Nikki, was getting married and asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. We met when we were nine and while I lived in North Carolina, we did pretty much everything together. She was my best friend! As my grandfather has known her for as many years as has many other people at the ceremony, he came along too! Papa is an amazing person, let me tell you! He always has a story to tell, a smile on his face and his favorite snack has anything to do with peanuts.
The entire way there we listened to the Frank Sinatra station on XM and played the guess who game with Papa. A song would come on and he would have to guess the artist most likely followed by some singing and a fun fact.
We stayed in Papa's house in North Carolina where he used to live (now he lives with my parents south of Nashville) and were able to drive around the town where I used to live. It always seemed much bigger when I was younger, but I guess that's how life goes...
I hope you enjoy the video!
I'll talk to you soo,
xoxo bd

The Gilded Age

Can I be completely honest? Can I just break it down for you?
I’m exhausted. Granted I had my dress on, placed the concealer under my eyes and even curled my hair- so you may not have noticed had you seen me at the office- but I’m tired.
The entire month of September, every weekend, we spent away from our home, our routines and sadly, our DVR. What can I say, we love to watch television!
Tomorrow Adam will begin working at home which means we are somewhat feverishly trying to put together his office.
We’ve purchased a desk and phone but need to clear out all of the clutter from our home in Memphis. (Boxes and what not’s…you know.)
I saw the above pictures this morning and had a mini day dream of how our home could look like that.
My design aesthetic is far from minimalistic or modern, I love the gilded mirrors, golds, creams and crisp whites…they all speak to me. They calm me down in as much as interiors can.
With all of the chaos in traveling and staying at everyone else's home but our own, I want to calm down. I want to spruce up what we have. Thank goodness for inspiration to get you out of a ruddy rut, right?

I have compiled a couple of videos from over the weekend and hope to have them edited and posted within the next few days.
I hope you have had a beautiful October hump day, the weekend is getting closer!

Talk to you soon,
Xoxo .bd

Grandeur

If there is no occasion for being elegant, we owe it to ourselves to make one, because the world needs beauty and refinement.
And if you strive to look your best, you should also add a measure of grandeur.
