Happy Halloweekend

Happy Halloween Weekend one and all :)

So much has changed in my life since last hallows eve.
I talked on the phone for the first time with my now husband on Halloween of 2008 and now, one million calls later...a wedding....a move....and a few pumpkins carved, we're happy to be right where we are.
Tonight is your excuse to be someone you're not and get a stomach ache from eating too many reeses! Have a lovely spooky weekend friends.

"There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort."

It is hump day in late October and I am ready for a really long nap. No matter how beautiful it was today all I wanted to do was crawl up on the couch with a blanket and watch tv.
Every Wednesday Adam and I turn on ABC for their family comedy night full of shows we can't get enough of.  So right now as our weekly ritual we've cozied up to watch 'The Middle' and share a piece of pumpkin cheesecake. I love our consistency :) With an eensy entry ended, I'm going to soak my feet in warm water and finish this episode.
Oh and speaking of comfort, what speaks more to comfort than the most fluffy bed to fall into?

{Post from Friday}

Happy Weekend one and all, you now have permission to sleep in past 6 and have yummy brunch on Sunday.
Who doesn't love the weekend? I have found that working Monday thru Friday  I look forward to the freedom I feel on Saturday morning.. No longer do I have to make sure work clothes are washed or a lunch is prepared for the next day, or even wash my hair the night before. It is utter bliss knowing that all I have to surrender to is cuddling up on the couch and light housework. I've about emptied a box of tissues since this morning but by tomorrow morning I hope to be much better. Crossing fingers.
A few weekend musts:

{Read a good book}

]

{Gather Fallen Leaves}

{Bake A Lovely Batch Of Apple Cider Doughnuts}

Tomorrow night we'll be having one of our couple friends Kevin and Allison over to make pizza, carve even more pumpkins (I might glitter mine) and watch Hocus Pocus! I'm off to cook up some dinner for the two of us.
Please take care, this is a lovely fall weekend to be outside.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Feeling under the weather, I agree with the quote given by Audrey Hepburn, I need to be revived.
Oh the weather! Oh the frizzy hair! Oh the dreariness!

It's a rainy Thursday here and the sun has yet to show itself today. The color of the sky has stayed the same dark gray ever since I left for work this morning at 7:20. I do believe it's high time for the temperature to drop and the sun to rise.
In my last entry I mentioned Adam being sick and with the great luck that I have, I've now been gifted some sort of sickness. (That's what you get for kissing your husband while he's sick. Doesn't always work out so well, nome sain.) Today at work I felt just awful with a runny nose, sneezing, coughing and a sore throat. I don't take well to being under the weather, I want to accomplish so much in a day and feeling sick takes that away from me. Here's to tomorrow feeling rested and better!
I'm excited to watch the episodes of Gossip Girl from the Netflix dvd we got in yesterday, I'm utterly obsessed! Serena Vanderwoodsen's hair is my favorite and I can't help but try to accomplish that curly/wavy/ gorgeous sheen do she has in every show. If only I had a style team to make me up every morning before work I might look like an upper east-sider. MIGHT.
 Late tomorrow night my good friend Miss Paige High will be visiting us for a day to experience allll that is Memphis. I have to do lots of cleaning and organizing in the guest room! Thank God for having guests over, they make you kick yourself in the butt and get on the move with taking care of the little things.

In a used bookstore in the Cooper Young area....we made $35 that day by selling our old books!

...and so I cashed some of that money in for a Martha Stewart craft guide :)

Happy pumpkins and leaves to you!

Alone in the house on a beautiful fall evening, dinner is done and Adam is off to an oral argument at school.
Poor hubby he's been sick for the past 3 days thus being at school long after classes are over is not where he wants to be right now. Say a prayer that everything goes well!!

Our weekend, as opposed to last, wasn't very eventful. We spent the majority of our time watching Mad Men and Gossip Girl from Netflix, which we are seriously addicted to. It's gotten to the point where we have lengthy conversations about the redeemable qualities of Chuck Bass and how messed up Don Draper is. {I love our life}

I've been trying my darndest to come up with new and fun dinner ideas as the budget is tight and we're trying to save money. Last week I made my very first (and successful!) salmon patties, yummy turkey meatloaf, homemade mashed potatoes, mexican pie topped with cornbread, homemade light alfredo sauce and so on.
Off to make either red velvet cupcakes or oatmeal cookies for my sickly love.... which would he like??
{{Update: Adam's argument won!! He'll go for another round tomorrow evening :) }}

"It's Not What You Look At That Matters, It's What You See."

In that I have yet to fulfill my promises of pictures, I am following that Henry David Thoreau quote by making this my picture post.
The fact that I only updated once last week of what was a mishap from the previous week I am sad that I haven't made any more posts.
This past weekend Adam and I took a last minute trip back to Franklin so we could visit with family before Thanksgiving. We were lucky enough to come when the rain stopped at least for a few days leading us to walking all around downtown Franklin and picking pumpkins. We enjoyed our time there so much, family is so important to us, and it's tough being 3 hours away. The good part about being that far away is that I can play hostess and dress our home up.
Not much in the way of writing, I have to file my taxes by...oh.... tomorrow. Eeeep!

Planes, Trains and the sound of settling

{A Post accidentally not posted from a week ago}

It is 6:15 on Thursday evening and the sun is no where in sight but hidden by gray clouds and the sound of an air plane above.
Two of the wonderful parts about the location of where we live {1} the air port is about 10-15 minutes away giving way to the beautiful take off and landing sounds at all hours of the night, And {2}train tracks are only about 2 blocks behind us.
This morning on the way to work/school Adam and I were talking about how much we love that the train comes by and greets us with very loud "TOOOOOOTTTT!! TOOOOOTTT!!!" every morning.  Maybe "toot" makes it sound a bit fourth grade-ish, but trust me it's my regular 6 am wake up call. (I don't need to get up until 6:30) Adam remarked that at least it's consistent, I didn't feel it a valid enough reason at the time...not sure if I ever will.

This weekend is packed with many different activities for the two of us. Tomorrow night we'll be seeing Girl Talk here in Memphis followed by a birthday bash for our friend Katie! Saturday we'll be cleaning the house and preparing food for a get together with some friends of mine from work and Adam's from law school.

I've been scouring every home decor store to find drapes for our bedroom and frames for all of ours vintage maps and wedding photos. Nothing has captured what I truly want for dramatic drapes to hang in our bedroom, but of course the fun is in the search.

Sunday I'm hoping to have as a day of recuperation.
I'm off to watch a couple of shows with my love and clean up the kitchen. Have a lovely evening.....
